Mio HRM?

So I'm just getting started and purchased Mio Drive Special Edition Petite Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch. It hasn't come in yet, but I wanted to see what those who have it have to say. I decided on this one since I wanted something affordable just for calorie counts for home workout videos, but without a chest strap. (Yes, I will notice a chest strap...I'm a bit top heavy and my sports bra irritates me enough without having to worry about another strap to cinch.) If you have tried this one, did you find a typical adjustment for cal numbers you needed? Thx!

I suspect the universal feedback you'll get is that without a chest strap you may as well hold onto your money....

Well, I'm really hoping to get calories burned, which if you can get heart rate pretty accurately, doesn't it calculate from there? Unfortunately most of the activity trackers that are worn all day are not useful for higher impact or strenous workouts so I was lead towards a HRM. But trying to find an affordable one since I'm just starting out seemed the way to go.0 -

HRMs are only really useful (in terms of estimating calories expended) when doing steady state cardio and when they have a chest strap so that your heart rate is being monitored constantly. On demand (like the Mio) require you to touch the unit periodically so you end up with a very low sampling rate which, for all intents and purposes, makes them useless except for checking what your heart rate is at that moment.0 -
Well I'll try it and doesn't do what I want it to do, then I'll return it. *shrug* Just wanted feedback from someone who has/had one and what they thought.0

I have the MIO HRM and i am very satified with it. My husband bought it as a gift for me and it has worked really well , i used it a lot when i was doing P90x. I have found that the heart rate it gives me is very accurate, i have compared my heart rate on another machine to see if it was close and it was right on! ENJOY!!0

Thanks! I've been using it and so far I like it as well. I just needed it to average my calorie burn for specific workouts and it seems to do just that.0
