Work Out Music

Hi, all!

I wasn't sure if this is the appropriate place for this thread, so I'm sorry if i messed up!

Music is one of my greatest motivators when it comes to working out. The right song can give you the push you needed in order to do those last three reps or that last minute on the treadmill/eliptical.

I've recently made an account on a website called Grooveshark that allows you to make playlists of music for free, and I decided to make a playlist of music to work out to.

I was wondering if anyone had any favorite "workout" songs that I might want to add to it. Some of the songs I have so far include Remember the Name by Fort Minor, Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance, RadioActive by Imagine Dragons, and even some Ke$ha.

If anyone else has some favorite workout songs, I'd love to hear about them!

Cheers!

  • If you can tolerate country, try "kick it in the sticks" by Brantley Gilbert, "never gonna be your bride" by Carrie Rodriguez, "kickin up mud" by the Lacs, 5-1-5-0 by Dierks Bentley, lots of good stuff by Moonshine Bandits, such as "for the outlaws", "Whiskey river", "get loose," "hell raisin' country" and "whiskey in my soul"

amusing pirate rap in the form of "from the seas to the streets" or "ship 2 ship" by Captain Dan and the Scurvy Crew. Leading into more nerd rap, specifically "older crowd" by MC Chris. Going more hip-hop, Missy Elliot has some good energy, like "work it" and "gossip folks"

Frozen by Celldweller might be more similar to Imagine Dragons, as is Cracks by Freewheelers, or Butterfly by Crazy Town, Pong by Eisenfunk is more industrial/techno, and I love pretty much anything by Korn. Also check out "bang bang bang" by the Soho Dolls, and "heads will roll" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Anyway, that last block is likely to be more up your alley, but if you're feeling adventurous check out the others. :) Enjoy!

I actually really like country, but never thought of it as something to work out to, lol!

I like Celtic rock, so pirate rap may be worth a shot; and I don't mind hip-hop now and again.

I'll make sure to check your suggestions out!

    Thanks a lot!

For some reason, I adore working out to Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson, and Kid Rock's cover of Legs. I also like most heavy metal (especially for lifting) and some Rap/HipHop. Fuego by Pitbull is great.

Mastodon and The Sword are my favorite bands to run to. Their beats usually match my foot falls so it helps me keep rhythm. Plus aggro is the best to work out to as long as you can pace yourself.
  • My current "Lift" playlist is about 280 songs but a few random ones:

    Sun Doesn't Rise - Mushroomhead
Cauterize - As I Lay Dying
    Deliver Me - Parkway Drive
    Dark Days - Parkway Drive
Two Weeks - All That Remains
    Timewave Zero - Scar Symmetry
    In Waves - Trivium
    Bleed - Meshuggah
    The Crestfallen - Soilwork
    Misery's Crown - Dark Tranquility
    Sanctity of Brothers - Unearth
    Clandestiny Now - Solution .45
    Explosia - Gojira

If you check some of these bands on YouTube (or wherever) and like any particular one I can recommend 10 more bands that are similar to each ;)
