Knee Injury post Jillian Michaels 30 Day Burn

So once I started phase 1 of the 30 Day Burn I could barely do the jumping jacks and jump rope, so I just sorta hopped without my feet leaving the floor, thankful she wasn't actually in my living room. But I gradually started to get a few jacks in and a few jump ropes in and now my right knee - never had knee problems before - is giving me hell. I definitely cannot jump on it. I get a sharp pain in my knee when I do. But I'm not here to whine. Besides ice, what can I do to strengthen/rehabilitate my knee? I want to show that midget I can do ALL of those jumping jacks! lol

First off get it checked out to make sure you don't have a cartilage tear or some other legitimate injury. Then go see a physical therapist for a good routine for strengthening.0 -

Did you discontinue the workout? I have a terrible knee injury on my right knee from doing this workout, and I researched the web, and found that we are not alone; many people have screwed up knees from her workout. I won't ever do it again! Also, I'd like to add that I'm an experienced exerciser, and I know my form was good. I think it is the workout itself that is to blame.0

I'm just not a fan of her stuff for people w/out a history of working out regularly. Contrary to what she says, high impact exercises can be quite damaging to joints if you are overweight, especially if you haven't maintained a regular schedule of weight bearing exercise to strengthen ligaments and joints. I honestly think that fast walking, biking, swimming, and lower impact cardio workouts combined w/ gradual strength training are the safest bets. You can get good results w/ a lot less chance of injury. One of her kettleball workouts messed up my back once, and I've NEVER had back issues, even w/ army workouts.0
