Taking the first step again

I am there again... Where I have been times before.. Fed up with not being able to strap myself into an airline seat without the help of the extension buckle. Having problems breathing, cant make steps without an inhaler, living my life wishing I was younger so that I wasnt almost done waisting my life. I have alot, but am missing so much. I am not getting out of life what I could.
Tired of hiding behind stretch waistband jeans, and flabby arms. Wishing I was better looking so that my son home from the airforce wouldnt be secretly embarrassed by me. He would never tell me so, but I know he would love me to be thinner, more healthy, but he continues to love me without fail without guilt, without disapproving looks. He loves me unconditionally, why cant I be more persistent and consistent and give him a mom he can be more proud of?
I have a good family and a wonderful boyfriend that loves me unconditionally. I have so much but I dont allow myself to enjoy it to the fullest. I am cheating myself, but have come to the point, I am just "used to it". I have come to the point I just live with it.
I am tired of just living with it (tonite) and hope I feel the same way again when I wake in the morning. I need support, that is why I am here. I am proud and do most things on my own. I have to say I am finding I cant do this alone. I have got myself in this condition alone. I am responsible for where I am, so now I need to become responsible enough to get my self out.

Even if you don't "feel" the same in the morning, even if you don't "feel" like taking the extra effort, even if you don't "feel" like turning down the junk, you MUST do it anyway. you HAVE TO TO GET ANYWHERE. There are sooo many days when I don't feel like working out or I don't feel like walking to class instead of driving, but I do it anyway. And while I understand it is so hard to change eating habits (I struggle with Binge Eating Disorder), I also understand that you have to do it to make any progress. You're not going to be perfect, accept that and deal with it. But you can't use that as an excuse.
Take it step by step if you think it'll be easier that way. Maybe start by limiting yourself to one small treat a day. Then a week later, start going brown as opposed to white (brown rice, whole grain pasta, whole grain bread, etc.)
EDUCATE YOURSELF. There is so much information out there just waiting for us to acquire it. Don't educate yourself on the atkins diet, don't educate yourself on jenny craig, or nutrisystem, learn about FOOD. eat REAL food. eat WHOLE foods. READ LABELS. Michael Pollan is a fantastic author to look up for information on food. He has a book called Food Rules which is a simplified version of all that he preaches (for lack of a better term) about food.
Good luck to you. I truly hope this time it's for real and you turn your life around. You deserve it.0 -
I appreciate your response. I already have made the change to the brown rices, and whole grain pastas. I know how to do it and dont follow a diet. Try to make changes based on my eating habits, cut out salt and use spices like Mrs Dash. I dont approve of diets, know it has to be a lifestyle change and not a binge diet. i leave off a bun when eating hamburgers and have a salad with it instead of fries. Minimal italian dressing with no cheeses, or croutons, or un necessary additions. I love grilled and baked chicken and know frying except in the oven is a no no... Lots of veggies and fruits, and not the sugary kind.
The problem is consistency with me and I appreciate your response. It is something I have to do whether I feel I have time or not. I do well and then when I start seeing results, I get lax. And then go back up.... But I am going to keep your email and use it to read when I start to falter....
Thanks for the support.

Debby,
I know EXACTLY what you mean about consistency. That's the very reason I'm here. I'm inconsistent more often than I am consistent. Just focus on shifting it: become consistent more often that you're not. Slowly but surely, your mindset and actions will change. I have to say, logging on here religiously is helping me--slowly but surely.0
