Holiday rules?!

Hey,
I was just wondering what others thought about trying to keep the weight going down over a holiday. I'm off camping for a week tomorrow and have been a bit concerned about putting my hard work waste. I will be most likely be active most days, with swimming and surf lessons, and general walking about, but French food is so good i'll eat like a horse.
I'm trying to alter my perspective on food and exercise, and I think going on holiday will really test my old mentality of "I'm not on a diet, lets eat like a pig". Compared to now, which is generally trying to good decisions at every occasion, allowing for treats.
Would you still keep a food diary?
Has anyone got any tips to still enjoy food and drink without stressing about it?
Do you do any extra exercise, like a morning run?
Any help would be great, as this is my first holiday with my new mentality. :drinker:

What's your calorie deficit and weekly weight loss target? If you are eating a 300 cal deficit and loosing 1 pound a week you could eat an extra 600 cals daily and only gain a pound. Is that the of the world? Throw in the exercise and you're laughing. Youy may come back and be holding a little water which will through the scales. Get back on it a few days before you weigh yourself. Log if you can so you have an idea of what's going on and enjoy your holiday x0

At the moment I I need to eat 1200 calories, I think it's about 500 calories less than what I was eating. But that's good maths! That makes me feel better.
I won't be able to log in because of the abroad internet charges, but I'll keep a written one for peace of mind, then log it when I'm back and could work back any over eating through extra exercise.

I find it too stressful to try to log when I'm on holiday - food is further from my control with new products and other people cooking and/or eating out (not at major chains with online nutrition). However I still eat consciously - no 10 icecreams in a row or mountains of mashed potato. I try to eat the same amount I feel I would if I were at home.
Bein on holiday for me is not an excuse to slack of with my training. I'm committed to 6-days-a-week yoga practice (though I may do a shorter practice) and usually have great new scenery and trails for my runs.
It is worth noting that most of my holidays are to go visit friends or family so there are not the same temptations as eg. all inclusive hotel stay hanging by the pool.
With camping I'm sure you will be fairly active and it's possible to eat quite well - fresh seasonal produce in France will be your friend!!! Best of luck to you0 -
We recently went to Orlando for a week and then camping for 4 days. I didn't track my food in Orlando, but I worked out every day and ran every morning at camp, tracking food while there. I gained a couple pounds, but am back to where I was because I got right back into my normal routine the day we returned. Have fun, let loose a little, but I recommend staying active and getting in intentional exercise every day in addition to other activities.0

I ganied 7lbs on vacation in June. I worked my but off untill then so I could splurge and have a good time. Once I got home it was back on track. No regrets!0

I went on vacation a couple weeks ago to a casino and then camping. I was also terrified of gaining weight; however I decided I deserved a week where I could relax and not have to worry about logging. Needless to say I ate way worse than normal. When I came home after the 5 day vacation I had gained about 3lbs. After 2-3 days really back at dieting and exercising I was down to the number I had left at. I think we all deserve to reward ourselves. So have fun and enjoy, weight loss will be right there waiting for you when you get home :happy:0

Thank you for replies, I will definitely try and keep active! I'm looking forward to the fresh food so much! It'll be lovely. But definitly no splurging!! But I will let go now and then, as it is a holiday after all.
Being a 10 minute walk from the beach could let me swim most evenings nights, or a morning jog, to help with any extra calories gained from croissants and ice cream :P0
