I barely eat dairy. Cut back in Jan/Feb. I wondered if
anyone has opinions on low fat cottage cheese? I'm
wondering if many ppl here eat it and will it be a good
addition or should I keep on avoiding it? Thank you ..

I barely eat dairy, too. Love cottage cheese, though. But, I eat 1% or full fat cottage cheese and it has to be the Old Home brand, everyone else's cottage cheese is way to soupy for my taste. Try out some different brands and see what/if you like it.

Love cottage cheese, especially when things are added to it. Pineapple, apple, blueberries, apple sauce, or a bit of pepper. Good stuff.

It's an excellent source of protein and has whey in it.
Even the higher fat cottage cheeses are still pretty low in fat.

I like to mix 1/4C 4% milkfat cottage cheese with 1T creamy peanut butter. I've been eating that for lunch almost every day the last two weeks and it's reeeeaaally good. Only 150 calories but it sticks with me a lot longer than most other lunches.

I absolutely love it, it's tasty, low cal, good protein. What's not to love?! I also had a great recipe boomarked on here, low-cal keish made using cottage cheese, and it sounds amazing.

I usually have a couple of spoonfuls a day along with my lunch salad. nom!

I would steer clear of fat-free. I use 1%, and it is great. A 1/2 cup is only 100 calories and there are 15 grams of protein in it (in my brand anyway). It is really versatile as well. A lot of people eat it sweetened with fruit. I prefer to add it to savoury dishes. Tonight I am putting it in with my enchilada filling.

I swear by it. I usually eat it for breakfast because it's fast and I can change the "flavor" according to my mood. If I want something savory I stir in either chives, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or some combination of those and if I want something sweet I'll add some sort of fruit - a dab of jam stirred in, blueberries, pineapple, or with apple slices.
  • Eat it every day for lunch during the school year, I take half a cup of 1% [deans brand) and I throw a half cup of frozen mixed berries, the. By lunch time they have thawed
Or at home sometimes with crushed pineapple, or now sometimes fresh blueberries since they are a good price,

I use it lasagna in place of ricotta. Not because it's low fat or whatever, I just don't like ricotta cheese. I use 2% cottage cheese, not sure if that's low fat or what...but it bakes nicely.

So I'm in favor of it.

I don't do low fat. I do the full fat variety. If I'm going to eat it, I may as well enjoy it!

I take a cup of strawberries cut up with about 50g of full fat cottage cheese for a morning snack.

Or, I take it to spread on my crispbread with tomatoes and/or deli-meat (I eat vegetarian deli-"meat" but you could use whatever you want)

Or you can have it with cut up pineapple or gherkins/pickles, or whatever you want.

I have also been known to put it in my tacos.

Seriously good stuff. Great protein hit too.

Eat it almost daily. Usually with fruit, but the stuff goes with anything.

I love cottage cheese. I have it for breakfast. I add just a touch of honey and fresh fruit, what ever I have on hand.
