how to scan barcodes

I was looking at the recipe blog.
Someone states they can scan the bar codes, How is that done?

    You have to be on a smart phone, but you click on Add to Diary, then just select the meal and then click on the bar code icon in the upper right hand corner and scan the bar code on the package and adjust the quantity. Just be careful, because they are not always correct :-)

    I use that function on my phone all the time. It makes sure you get the right info and takes the guesswork out of it.

    I've used it on my phone a few times, but it's been wrong more often than it's been right. Once it came up with the completely wrong product, and several times it's had the wrong calorie information but I find a lot of the time stuff just isn't known.

    It isnt correct all of the time like one time i scanned peanut butter and it came up like hummas or somethin. But i do enjoy the scanner on my iphone. It saves alot of the guess work making sure you got the right product on there
