When to log exercise

If I chose 'active' as my lifestyle due to my job and other things, does this mean I should not include all the walking I do at work in my daily exercise?

No. I would not include it. You have already figured that in as part of your active lifestyle. Only figure the exercise you do that is above and beyond your regular daily routine or what is already considered active. If ACTIVE considers that you do a certain amount of exercise each week don't count that as extra.0

even if you chose 'sedentary' it would be a mistake to add in calories from walking around at your gig0

I log 50 calories for walking around work, unless that day I don't walk. I run up and down stairs between floors at school and I log because that should count. I am rarely just sedentary sitting in my classroom. If I go shopping and walk around the supermarket, lugging groceries, etc. I count the same 50 calories. Sundays is church and relax, if I don't workout with Shaun T. then 0 calories for exercise that day. It has been working great for me!

What seemed to work for me... I set my activity level to sedentary and then I wore a pedometer (fitbit) for several days. When the fitbit would sync up it was giving me extra calories every day, so I knew that my regular daily activity took me beyond the sedentary setting.
When I bumped it up to lightly active the additional calories slowed for the most part and I would only have bonus calories on extremely busy days. So I have left my activity level as lightly active as that seems to be "My normal."
Now when I exercise over and above my daily activity, I log that activity because it truly represents my efforts to exercise.
Hope that helps.0 -
Only include those things which are outside your normal activity level. I usually set mine for sedentary (though I am not really totally sedentary)... Any really unusual activity, I add... This is primarily exercise but if I spend 4 hours moving boxes and I don't usually do that, I'll add in an hour or so to reflect this... (I'd rather err on the side of adding too little in that regard).0

According to my pedomoter, I average 300 calories a day at work. When I change my activity level from Sedentary to Active, it adds almost 200 a day........ The diference is 1500 a week (manual) vrs 1400 a week when it is already figured in. So I would not add it because it is already counted.0 -
Thank you. I was just unsure, especially since I don't work everyday. But when I do work I'm on my feet for at least 7 hours. (I'm a CNA)0
