Today was Tough

I've never posted since beginning this journey three weeks ago...but today was tough and I felt like sharing how I overcame. It was three birthdays back-to-back with temptation everywhere: Pizza, hot dogs, chips, cake, cookies, cupcakes, snow cones, candy, sugary drinks...you get the picture. The roughest part wasn't looking at those foods in the eye and saying "No"...it was not having access to better food options since the parties were back-to-back. I somehow managed with a protein shake I'd drank right before leaving for the first party before noon. To make things worse...my husband...who isn't being much of a support system...didn't want to order a Chik-Fil-A entree (where I ordered a salad - 540 calories with Fat-Free dressing) on our way home from the final party, instead he opted for a Pizza Hut pizza. Overall, temptation was full-force and I'm still under my calorie goal for the day and, well, I feel pretty good about myself.

On the progress front, the first two weeks were tough because I didn't see much change...but I stuck it out. During the third week, I really started to notice a difference on the scale and, more importantly, my clothes. The only thing I did different between the first two and the last week were my water-drinking habits. I forced 8 glasses a day...which I'll now continue to do. I know that 7.5 pounds is pretty good...even more so because I haven't lifted a finger in terms of exercise. Im a full-time employee and a full-time graduate student, on top of being a wife and a mom. So long as I'm going to school (another two semesters) I just cant fit gym time into the schedule. The best I've done is about 45 minutes of evening walking about 3 times per week.

Anyway...being that I was feeling proud, I just felt like sharing my day. I'm on track to lose about 11.5 pounds in my first month. Here's to the next 11 days!!

Good job, seriousy!! That would be tough to do, and yea I know what you mean...not having other choices available. Wow, 3 bdays back-to-back, too bad they couldn't all get together and have one massive blowout all at the same time! lol Great going on passing up all the temptations!! I bet you feel proud! Week 3 is tough on anyone :flowerforyou:

WOW! SO impressed, and am given encouragement to do well tomorrow at a birthday party for my future daughter in law. There will be alternative things to eat but even so it will not be easy. And my hubby is a great support. You keep hanging in there and use MFP for support and you'll find it here! Way to go! I'm right behind you--about to finish my second week and am ready to see just a little bit of change.
