I am so frustrated, I have been going to the gym 5-6 times a week, I have worked up from 20 minute cardio to 30-35 min cardio and then I do alternating weights for 30minutes or so (one day arms, one day legs, ect). So I am at the gym for minimum of 1 hour ....I have only lost maybe a few pounds...I am about 60 lbs overweight so I know I got the pounds to lose, plus I try not to eat bad and keep up with my calories, ect. Maybe I need to watch my calories more.. I dunno, any ideas? I have been going to the gym about 2 months now.

i would kick it up on cardio. I spent about 6 months goign to the gym 4 times a week, with a strong focus on strength and less focus on cardio. I did not see much success.
if you are looking to lose i would focus on cardio - 45 min - 1 hour 4 to 5 times a week and 3 days of strength. i'm definatley not a professional but i didn't see results until i put in my cardio time.
I find reading a book on the elliptical helps me stick with it for the whole hour ( it is a long time..)
You can do it though . you are already halfway there since you've been committed to going to the gym. Food intake is also a big part, if that's not under control (in the suggested amount Before excercise) then you won't see the loss either.

p.s. try not eating any of your excercise calories. i try to stay as close to the base (1200 for me) even if i excercise. when i eat my excercise calories i don't see the loss as consistently. I try not to go over 1400 or 1500 no matter how much i workout.0

Don't you just hate that! Keep your food diary up to date and see if what you are eatting or drinking is the culprit. Watch for the processed foods and the extra sodium. If you are working out that much you may need to increase your protein and lower the carbs a bit. MFP makes it easy to do.

Don't forget muscle weighs more then fat but takes up less space, which means you may not see movement on the scale but your measurements may be changing, when you weight train it is best to mark progress with measurements and not lbs. Being in the gym 5-6 times a week is awesome. Try reducing your carb intake, which will reduce your sugars, which ultimately will reduce weight??? Good Luck!0

You have to remember that losing weight isn't just the numbers... Have you measured yourself??? Try that and you might be suprised.
You are what you eat - so if you eat lean meats and low fat products with fiberous carbs you'll loose the fat quickly. Eating 6 small meals a day makes a world difference too. You can take a peak at my diary if you wish!0 -

I did drink a lot of wine over the holiday weekend, prob had a lil something to do with it, didnt think much about it though since I hot the gym everyday!0

I hate cardio too!! LOL I don't mind my runs outside cause it's with a friend... Maybe pairing up with a mate for cardio would help?0 -
If you don't like cardio, try some classes at your gym. They will get you going, and they're fun!0

Well it hasn't been as bad since I got the DH to join the gym as well...lol....

First - let me commend you on your determination and great job at excercising. I'm the opposite - I hate lifting weights - I love cardio - but I have to do both. I know it's fustrating, but hang in there - your body is trying to keep on to what it is used to having, but it will eventually be forced to give in. I think if you bump up your cardio - don't eat your work out calories, you will see a weight loss.

Yes, increase the cardio but honestly review your food intake. Since your diary is not public I could not review it to see what you are eating. Watch the sodium and the carbs and increase your lean protein. Drink lots of water and hang in there, you can do it!0
