Hi everyone, I'm new here from weight watchers online where I lost 40 pounds recently only to gain 10 back so I still have 30 to go. I loved WW online but thought there had to be an alternative out there. The only reason I did not go back to WW was the money. I did some searches and found MFP.
I am amazed at a few things which I think MFP is better. First when I did searches for brand names from my grocer's foods (Giant Eagle) I have yet to be disappointed, On WW my grocer's foods never came up. MFP is way easier to navigate and personalize, The message boards are way more active and have a better search function. All in all WW gave me a great template and so far MFP is refining it. MFP is a far superior site. Thanks everyone and good luck

Hi & welcome to mfp, I too considered returning to ww but money played a huge part and they always want you to purchase their products! This site is excellent and so far I have managed to lose 13lb so it is working for me & fits in with family meals. I enjoy reading the forums as the advice is great and the success stories keep me going.
Good Luck and feel free to add me as a friend0 -
Wow! Congrats on your loss so far! That's fantastic! I have never done WW before, some of the stories of people who tried it (and piled weight back on afterwards) really put me off. The way I see it is MFP has changed how I see food, and even if I didn't log I would still be more aware of the good, the bad and the ugly choices!! I'm sure you will do great with MFP. One tip: if youre going to add lots of new friends (which I hope you will!) leave them a message with the friend request. I get quite a few blank requests and it is quite tempting to decline because of it! (Maybe it's just me!)
All the best x0 -
I also was on WW... successful program, but the costs do add up fairly quickly. MFP is a GREAT site and it's definitely much more user friendly than WW.
Congrats on your success so far!!0 -
Good work losing the 30 pounds! Keep on keepin on! Welcome!0

I did weight watchers and lost 30 lbs a few years ago. I was able to keep it off but I found that I wasn't able to lose any weight without them. MFP has taught me how to actually see the nutrional value in food, so I can eat just about anywhere and I don't have to stress about converting them into points. WW taught me about portion control but MFP has taught me about the how important it is to not just limit the amount of food but it's about the nutrional quality as well.0

I'm also doing weight watchers. In the since that I'm fallowing the program and not going to meetings or paying to do it. I found that this site gives you the support all the time that the weekly meetings gave you once a week.
Good job on your weight lost so far and good luck to achieving your goal weight.0 -
I am also from weight watchers. I felt too much pressure with always trying to figure out the points on top of the money. This site is better because it is free and you only have to read the back of the package to figure out the calories! I enjoy the forums as well on here more than ww. Anyway feel free to add me if you like!0

Hi I am also from WW (LTM) Super great work on your progress!
For me, many years go by, events happen and now I have 100 lbs to lose! I have a similar story as I wanted an alternative to WW. I couldn't find a leader that would motivate me and paying week after week, same information, etc. I needed a different approach with detailed calculating of what I am consuming. This has an exercise tab as well which is terrific!! Very exciting.0
