Getting remotivated to be fit by 50--anyone else like me?

I joined MFP a while back (I tried SP, but found it too overwhelming, though a wealth of info.), am getting remotivated and I just joined Planet Fitness. I've begun incorporating green smoothies (never would I have thought they are so delish) and am reducing my simple carbs (cereal, bread, crackers, etc.), getting back with tracking my diet here on MFP.
The menopausal weight gain crept up--no--overtook me too fast, and now I have 5-1/2 months to try to be more fit before my "how-in-the-world-did-I-get-here-50th" birthday. Accountability would help me reach my goal.

I just joined MFP about 10 days ago (haven't uploaded a photo yet) and I am loving it. I like you am celebrating my 50th exactly 7 months from now. I just joined a gym on July 1, before I started MFP and I'm trying to stay motivated as well. Feel free to add me as a friend as our goals are definitely similar. I want to be a fabulous 50!0

I will be 48 in a couple of months and have my 3oth high school reunion in Oct. and a trip planned next year and I want to lose at least 70 pounds in the next year, but right now I am setting short term goals of 5 pound increments trying not to get disappointed. I work out 5X a week and have been going to a registered dietician and have a personal trainer every other week. I have lost about 11 pounds so far. I get very frustrated when I have been working so hard and the weight loss is so little. I would be happy to help you to stay motivated too! :happy:0

50 off by 50 is my mantra! I too am feeling that hormonal drag of peri-menopause. It feels like a brick wall! Feel free to add me as I am looking for support and motivation too!0

Fit by 50 has been my goal since I started MFP last year. I'm 4 months from 50 and am now in better shape than I have EVER been! (Still have a few stubborn lbs to go to be at a healthy BMI, but feeling really good about my overall health and fitness level.)
If you want a friend who logs every day, is somewhat active, open diary (not that I am a good example of what to eat- I eat whatever I want as long as it fits the calories)- I'm open for new friends!0 -
Finally a group I can relate to! I turned 46 in May. In March I started going to the gym five times a week and following Weight Watchers. I lost 13 pounds fairly quck and then hit a plateau. I came back to MFP for the movitvation! Good luck everyone!0

Hi, I joined MFP over a year ago, but didn't really get serious about logging until this past April. I'll be 48 in a couple of months. You have inspired my new motto..."Fit by Fifty". I have a lot of weight to lose. In the past, if I didn't drop 20 - 30 pounds fast, I would just quit. That isn't my approach this time. As long as I can tell myself that I am making healthier choices every day, then I'll be content with a slow and steady weight loss. I hope you love MFP. You will find great support and positive people here. I'm sending you a friend request.0

I'm 43, but with all of the same thoughts and goals. Decided to do this before it gets any harder, since apparently it just keeps getting harder. I used to be thin, and I have no idea why I haven't been the entire time. I mean, I know "why" but I don't know why it wasn't more important to me. Well, it is now. Always open to new friends my age0

I'm 41 and I swear my metabolism said to hell with me and ran away somewhere because its now harder than ever to maintain and lose. I refuse to give up or down myself. Feel free to add me.0

Please feel free to add me we could all encourage each other to be fit by 50! I am nearly 47 and said I would not be fat at forty but I was :-( this time is different as I am determined not to have anymore health issues related to weight and like others have said this is a lifestyle change.
We can do this!0 -
Add me if you would like. I am a former long time SP member but needed remotivating. Joined MFP in January and turn 50 in September. My user name, sprintto50 comes from the fact that for the past 2 years I have said I was going to get fit and lose weight again before I turned 50. January came with no work towards that goal. I have since lost 25 pounds and found a new, athlete me.0

Please add me I turned 45 in June and it hit me a few days before my birthday I had to do something I have been fat most of my life. I started this journey on Memorial weekend and am down 17 pounds so far with another weigh in tomorrow.0

that's me alright! do you have any identified barriers at this time to getting this job done??? mine is my work schedule and home life. i hope to change that by labor day. i am separated x 4 years and i am a night shifter, love the peeps i work with, but i realize the fatigue is significant and i hope to move on to finalize this separation thing once and for all so i can move on in this short life.
i became serious (AGAIN -its like once a decade) at the strength training in june (P90X serious) and i am missing workouts left and right because i am up for a 24 hr period a couple days a week and am finding my work outs certainly are not what i could really put into them to get this fit by 50 accomplished. i put about 50% effort into them and that needs to increase to get me to take ANY after pics (since i have before in a locked box). cuz i gosh darn it... MUST ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL, I will take after pics one day, i swear i will be able to! i plan on being routinely getting workouts in by mid sept and fine tuned by end of year.
what would you consider a barrier?? if you feel you have one....0 -
Hi:)
Getting fit for 50 was part of my motivation when I started on my journey on August 20 of last year. I was 49, peri-menopausal, and at my highest weight ever. I turned 50 in April and had a hysterectomy on May 23, so now I'm in surgical menopause. I take estrogen, so no yucky symptoms:) I am in it for the long haul this time! Ive had weight problems all my life and it took me this long to decide it HAS to be a lifestyle change ????
Feel free to add me, if you like (if you do, please leave a short message, so I'll remember who you are!)
Wishing you all the best:)0 -
ok ok I cant lie I am over 0o but I could join to be fit by 56. That rhymes does that count?0

I turned 47 in May (I am the one on the left side of the picture--my cousin from Germany is on the right). Trying to build some muscle and increase metabolism as they both went out the window in my mid-30's. My Food Diary is pretty basic as my schedule at work can make eating healthy an effort at times. I also am getting into the Green Smoothie trend....Blendtec blender really helps. I like to blend soymilk, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup blueberries, peanut butter or 1/2 cup of multigrain cheerios, vanilla protein powder, and a handful of baby spinach (so good)! Free to friend me.....Take care and good luck with your goals.0

Please add me, I'm 47 and by the way I've been behaving food wise it'll take me the next three years to sort it out.0
