Cleanse before the cleanse?

My brother's girlfriend told me about this "urushiol cleanse" that you rub into your skin. It makes your tissues absorb extra fluid for two weeks to flush out all the wastes and you get a red rash where the toxins are leaving your body, but you look and feel better than ever afterwards.

My concern is that I've only been eating clean for the last month but before that I used to eat a lot of fast food and junk. She said that, if you have a lot of build-up and toxins, it might itch a lot and even ooze a little. If you've tried this cleanse, do you think the month of clean eating is enough, or should I do another cleanse first so it's not as intense?

Thanks for all the HELPFUL responses!!!!

Your body already cleanses itself, there is no need to do one unless you have some kinda medical condition that your body doesn't get rid of toxins on its own.

Save your money, that is my suggestion. Good luck.

Just noticed in Chit-chat so not sure if real... either way ... Good luck

I'll refer to a thread from a great friend who is a cleanse specialist:

  • As a previous poster already mentioned, the body cleanses itself. That's why it has a liver.
Read this article about the "detoxification myth". See what science has to say about this topic.

^This and I wouldn't do things that cause rashes. that's usually a bad sign, you know?

Maybe google urushiol while you are at it.

Cleanses and detoxes only encourage loss of water weight and perpetuate the myth that your body needs help in removing toxins when in reality your kidneys and liver do a great job on their own.

Oh yeah, and make you *kitten* your pants, no thanks.

No disrespect but why is everyone so hung up on cleanses? Our bodies do that on it's own through pooping, peeing, sweating etc... If our bodies needed anymore than that don't you think it would have been a standard feature?

I think some green coffee enemas beforehand would really help wash out the majority of the toxins so the second cleanse was more gentle.

I usually do my enemas with caustic soda and silicate, but it's not so gentle. Sometimes I bleed for days in a row but it makes me feel so CLEAN. I'll definitely try your idea out :flowerforyou:

still might not be enough. Maybe take alli for a month first. Get rid of all the orange, oily discharge that's built up inside you, then do the green coffee enema (throw in some raspberry ketones for good measure) and then have a week of drinking nothing but lemon juice, then do this cleanse.

As you rub this one in your skin, why not make soap with it, so you get extra cleansing every time you take a shower?

I did that one on accident last week. Fun. You know, except for the oozing weeping rash.

Just eat a bar of soap. Boom. Done.

(People who are taking this thread seriously: do not eat soap.)

I don't know if anyone has told you, but URUSHIOL is the reason that people get poison ivy, sumac, oak, etc. It does not detox your body at all...unless you consider horrible poison ivy rash to be detoxing (??). I really don't understand how a company can market that! And God forbid you get it in your eyes or...even worse...lady parts. I actually carry a scrub with me while hiking just to wash myself if I even SUSPECT I have urushiol on my body. It can be disastrous if you don't!

Please please please don't do this to yourself. They are trying to make a buck off of your pain and anguish. And clearly they don't care about safety at all!

I'm a huge proponent of clean eating and overall healthful detoxes. This is definitely not one of them! Stick to what you're doing already...it's much safer and your body will thank you!

the human body has evolved to be able to cleanse itself. however, so much of the modern diet is made up of chemicals that arent natural(preservatives, artificial sweeteners etc...) that it requires extra cleansing on an almost constant basis.

in... for the kerfuffle over the toxinzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

in my experience, wearing aluminum foil hats every day is a good way to limit exposure to toxinzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

but aluminium is toxic. Can I wear a hat made of organic reeds instead? the kind they use for basket weaving?

Is the OP trolling? If you google Urushiol the first page is the wiki page about how its what causes rashes from poison ivy, etc.

I hear leeches will do wonders for you too. Cleanse your blood of all the toxins. And the red marks go away after a week.

Actually, the inspiration came from a trail run. The treatment would probably be about as effective, and only marginally less uncomfortable than the traditional cleanses...and at least it's organic, right?
