Sugar free - stomach ache!

This isn't a question, but I was just wondering if I'm alone. As most people I ask say " No not at all :noway: "

If I drink sugar free ANYTHING, I pretty much get a stomach ache instantly. I also seem to have a dry / cold throat afterwards. This is the the main reason I don't ever drink Pepsi Max, Coke Zero - anything diet. Even a hermeseta in my tea isn't pleasant. Or an enjoyable taste IMO.

I tried Sugar Free Ribena Squash tonight and ooft, same weird after taste and same bloated tummy! I may be having a bad reaction to one of the artifical sweeteners so this might be my last attempt at Sugar Free.

So does anyone else have a stomach ache at all? Is that a general " human " reaction to all of the artificial ingrediants? I'm not worried at all about this, not needing advice or anything. :flowerforyou:

It sounds like you may indeed be having a reaction to the artificial sweeteners in the "sugar free" things you've been eating and drinking. Does the same thing happen when you consume the regular versions of these things, or is it just with the sugar free stuff? Honestly, you're probably better off just eating and drinking things with no *added* sugar, not the "sugar-free" versions with even the natural sugars replaced with artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners aren't food, your body doesn't recognize them as food, and eating them doesn't do you any good and obviously it's actually doing you harm if you're getting sick from it.
  • A lot of people have bad reactions to "sugar free" foods because of the artificial sweeteners. There's research cropping up that states that the artificial sweeteners might actually be worse for you sweeteners used in regular sodas. Even knowing this, I'm having trouble diverting myself from soda... xD
