can I replace the american cheese with something that's actual cheese? you know, like a 15 year aged white cheddar? and add some mustard, onion and use a good German rye?

    NOW we're talking!

You can, but then it's not Tyler's Grilled Cheese

Gah, why can't people be polite and post the nutritional information for recipes they post?!? How the heck will I EVER find the time to calculate this on my own? So many ingredients! Ain't nobody got time for dat!

It's good you included step 4. Otherwise, you end up with a lot of sandwiches lying around the house. And no one likes that. Because of the crumbs.

What do I do with the other four slices of cheese? Are they a garnish?

The recipe I gave was enough to make 2 sandwiches.

Yeah. Two slices of cheese between two slices of bread. That makes 4 slices of chesse for two sandwiches. You asked for 8 slices. That's where I got cornfused.

    1 Thomas' Everything/The Works bagels
    2 slices of Velveeta cheese

    1. Slice bagel in half
    2. Put 1 slice of cheese on each half of bagel
    3. Toast in toaster oven until lightly browned (cheese side up)
    4. Eat each bagel half with melted cheese separately

    cauliflower optional.

    fixed it for you.

If you use 45 calorie bread per slice, Ultra Thin Sargento Cheese, I can't believe it is butter spray then your grill cheese is around 180 calories...of course I have tomato and pickles as well.....
