Hi MFP Family,
AHHH, Trying to get my mojo back here. A few months ago I decided to dedicate to SERIOUSLY eating healthy and SERIOUSLY working out consistently. I busted my butt, gave up all my vices (coffee, sweets) and I didnt lose an ounce. Can you say defeated boys and girls?!?! Well, Here I am halfway through the summer and I am a few pounds HEAVIER.
I have heard alot about woman and lifting weights to help lose body fat (of course with proper diet). I want to get started but not sure where to begin. I have a small gym at my complex at home. Is there a proper method to getting started? I have no idea where to begin with the weights. Any advise would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Rhonda

You need to get your diet in order....If you're busting your but and given up all vices and have not lost any weight you may be miscalculating calories...lifting weights will not change that...as far as weight training, start with a three day per week full body program that includes squats,presses,deadlifts,rows....good luck0

Try reading New Rules of Lifting for Women. I am happy to hear your are interested in lifting, it is the way to go. The diet is most important component, trust me. I tried to lift on a crappy diet for a year with no results. I am stubborn but have seen the light.0

Your diet is by far the biggest factor in your physique. My advice would be to get that in check first, i.e. develop a disciplined plan before trying to muster the discipline required for a new exercise routine. Lifting weights is great, but brisk walking and body weight exercises are also great beginning exercises. Best wishes to you.0

What you eat is the most important part of losing weight. Open your diary or let us know how many calories you consume on average. Have you had the typical blood work run for women of 40: Thyroid, sugar levels, etc. To make sure it isn't any of those things.
Without knowing what you are consuming it is hard to guage unless you have very little weight to lose.
I lift very heavy, on a crappy diet right now and although I am down 7 lbs for the last 6 months (boo). Imagine what I could have accomplished if my eating had been on track.0
