When's the best time to exercise?

I've heard the best time to exercise is in the early morning. But, why? Do you not get the same results as working out midday or in the evening? Does anyone here really know the difference? I have a crazy schedule so the best time for me to work out would be after my son goes to bed (around 8:30-9pm'ish).
Thanks
Thanks
