Fab news. The first year is the hardest but one day at a time you can do it. Keeping a good support system around you is key in recovery. I've been clean and sober for 11yrs now and my life is a thousand times better in every way, that silver lining has arrived :) Happy 100th day can't wait to celebrate your 1st year!

    Excellent.

Out of all the books, all the literature, all the sayings, all the therapists, the sponsors, the old-timers, all the spin-off programs, the self-help books, the TV shows, the bumper stickers.. you know what the two most important words are in recovery?

    Me too.

Connecting with other folks, sharing experience, strength and hope, learning to be honest and vulnerable with other people who have made similar mistakes, listening to different viewpoints. That's the *kitten*, my friend.

    Congrats.

I am so glad you shared this. As someone who is very close with an alcoholic, stories like this really give me hope. You don't hear them often enough. Thank you, and don't you ever give up on yourself. You are an inspiration. Keep soaring!

Congrats, I hit 365 days at the beginning of the month. Some days are worse than others but they are totally worth it!

Tyler, I couldn't be happier for you. What you are doing is the biggest miracle and the best gift you will ever give yourself and those around you.

I drank that much too, when I stopped. My first year was the hardest thing I have ever been through -- the first year sober was harder than the last years of drinking were. But at 14 months sober, my life started to get better and better. And my life today is beyond what I ever could have chosen or even imagined for myself. My sobriety date is January 3, 2005.

Keep taking it one day at a time.

    Elaine

Congratulations. It takes a very strong person to admit they have a problem. It takes a stronger person to do something about it. Thanks for posting. You've inspired me.
