A few months ago I asked the question would you let fear of finishing last keep you from competing.....so many of you set me straight about the true spirit of competition and believing in oneself. This past weekend I competed in my first Duathlon. I didn't come in last!! I finished 46th overall and 1st in my age bracket. I still can't wipe the smile off my face. I thank MFP and all those who responded with words of wisdom and encouragement that so inspired me.

    So good to hear!

I am working towards a sprint triathlon in April 2014 (700m swim, 20k bike, 5k run), and understand EXACTLY what you mean about the dreaded last-place finish. I am a weak swimmer, so to be honest, just completing the event will be a huge success, but no one wants to be last. Your accomplishment encourages me to go for it anyways!
