Does anyone have issues with having a lot of smelly gas?? Sorry to be so blunt, but I am not sure if it is the way I am eating or if there is something wrong with me??

If you have changed your diet drastically to include a lot more vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds and pulses, then yes. A lot of folks have a gut that turns foods like these into the sort of room-clearing gas that we can only laugh about - until it hits.
My husband is diabetic and needs a lot of fibre-full foods. The effect it has on him,me and our cat is little sort of horrendous, BUT a charcoal tablet taken at night usually lessens the emissions to a tolerable level.
If it worries you overtly, then see your doctor. He will not laugh (while you are there anyhow) and has ways of dealing with intestinal gas that should solve your problems.0 -
Could be the diet change or maybe food combinations causing the gas. If you open your diary we might be able to help you more.0

Always. It's a gift.0

if you have changed your diet to way healthier food, it could be like a "die off" effect. usually when you introduce probitics, and other detoxifying foods to your diet.
If it doesn't get better after a few weeks then maybe try eating less crunchy veggies, etc... (cruciferous vegetables get me every time)0 -
Gas isn`t too bad but when it is smelly then it is bad and maybe you are starting to eat high fibre foods? That can be the culprit that you have totally changed your diet?
Garlic/ spicy foods and beer (not all in one go) can cause smelly gas.
Either way if you have just changed things up with your diet then things will `improve` in time...not necessarily the gas but the smell.
I have found lettuce, for me, is always a problem0 -
You are not alone. If you are eating more fiber, veggies, etc....Add that to being female, yes females can have more gas, sometimes. If it is bothersome or makes you uncomfortable you can add some things that help with the smell...Mint and Ginger are good things that you can add to your diet naturally that help with gas.
Yogurt also does wonders for your digestive system and help neutralize things.0 -

I'm lactose intolerant and that happens whenever I eat the smallest bit of milk product. Try having a lactose pill with your meal if it has dairy, unless you already know youre not.0

Too much fiber will get me bloated with gas, a lot. Have to watch it carefully. I think changing eating habits and eating healthier sometimes is the cause. Our tummys are not used to good food. Hope it goes away for you. I still have problems once in a while.0

Fat alleviates gas? Or are you saying eat less fiber?
Someone posted something here that said too much protein causes terrible smelling farts. I'd never heard that.0 -

I've read papers alluding to carbs causing gas, and others saying protein causes gas. None saying fat causes gas. So, in an iso-caloric scenario, by reducing the other two suspects, increased non gas producing fat provides better outcome. Thoughts?0 -
embrace it. It's a sign of evil leaving the body0
