Can you see toning results even if you still have fat on ?

I am 177 lbs now and I don't want to lose much more, I want to stop at 155-160 lbs probably, I did some strength at home along the road but I still feel that I need lots of toning .
my legs have cellulite or fat (I don't really know the difference) and I want that gone, I want smother skin
if I tone up now (or after reaching 150 lbs) and do lots of strength would I be able to see any results or it's all going to be under the fat ?

  • I think that you should start toning now and when you get to your goal weight, you'll have a better shot at looking toned. The more muscle you build, the smaller you'll start to look even if you weigh the same amount.

If a lot of fat is in the way, you won't be able to see your results as much as a person with a lower BF%.

Give it a go, if you're not happy with your results after a while, then cut back on calories again until you get the legs you want.

Losing body fat will reveal the muscles underneath

Strength training should be done in collaboration with your weight loss program to get the best results in my opinion. Not only will the strength training increase lean muscle, this muscle will aid in burning fat and lowering your fat percentage. You will see results, but they will be even more apparent the lower body fat percentage you have. You will always have some fat, but your overall body composition will improve with strength training.

You should have started strength training the day you started your diet. When you don't, you lose lean body mass along with the fat so you end up with a higher BF%. You're going to have to do more to get the lean body mass up and look toned.

I'm not sure if you're really clear on what you're aiming for. What do you mean by toning? It sounds like you want to replace your fat with muscle and hit a goal around 150.

You can go for a weight number and let the bodyfat to muscle ratio fall where it will. Or you can go for a bodyfat to muscle ratio and let the weight fall where it will. I don't know if anyone can tell you whether you are going to look a certain way at a certain weight.

By virtue of the fact that you have been carrying around extra weight, you probably have more muscle under the fat than if you were smaller. Cutting fat while maintaining that muscle is probably what you want to do, so yeah, start strength training to maintain your muscle while you're still losing weight to cut the fat if that's your goal.
