What to eat before a hike?

My best friend and I are going on a 2 hour hike after lunch, what should I eat? Keep all suggestions vegetarian please :]

    carboydrates are the way to go. things that your body can slowly burn off and keep your metabolism energized through the walk. trail mix is called trail mix for a reason. ;) in all seriousness though, granola is great and even some pasta - here's one of my favorite foods:

    cook couscous according to package
    add halved red grapes
    feta cheese
    herbs (i like chives and parsley)
    toasted walnuts

    its so yummy! and it would be great for something like this.

    We went for a 2 hour hike on the weekend and had some awesome sandwhichs before we left. Ours had meat in them, but you could make them without. I bought some fancy cheese and used some good mustard and lots of veggies on them with a high fibre bread. I also served lots of cut up fruit before we left. When we got back to the car, there was still some fruit left over to help quench the thirst, along with a couple of bottles of water and a cookie for a reward. We were full until we got home!
