September Challenge: 10,000 Kettlebell Swings

I am participating in the challenge. I invite MFP peeps tothis challenge.
I am a kettlebell convert by now and not doing much else. I do take 2-45 minute Yoga Classes and some general ciscuit training with bodyweight exercises and 3 to 4 kettlebell workouts in a week.
Let me know if any body wants to try...

I'm interested, lady - I kind of left my 6 week challenge from July hanging after I got back from vacation, and wanted to do something for September. I've got a crunch and plank challenge going with some friends on here as well ... that and this should keep me busy! :happy:
I better start counting my swings in the routines I normally do, so I have a feel for where I am and what I need to do. (I have been meaning to design my own routine but for now have been just using some DVDs) ... Looks like September's going to be a real scorcher!0 -

I usually swing to a timer for 30 sec work 30 sec rest. I counted them yesterday that I do 20 swings in 30 seconds. So to do 560 swings (I did it yesterday, it took me 28 minutes) and I was doing a mix of double, right, left, Hand to Hand swings to get the variety going.

I don't do kettlebell work very often, only once a week since I don't have any at the house, but I do have some dumbbells I do swings with, that count?0

I have decided to wait for this challenge until October. I need to get consistent with kettlebells again this month and then start the challenge. I just don't want to just jump into that many swings and end up getting hurt. Good luck to all of you!0

mdpeck, I am sorry I did not answer your question earlier. If you want, you can join at any time and prorate the number of swings. But, if you would rather get your technique right, that is also a good idea. Today I used a 20lb KB to do 660 swings. It took me 32 minutes. I did 30 secs swings, and 30 seconds rest for 32 rounds.
Mark, you can use the dumbbells but I am not sure if they give you same range of motion. You can also swing with a gallon of water.0 -

I used 8kg and 12kg kettlebells today. I could have gone on and on but I know I will be paying later so I stopped myself.

I have used the 20lb Kettlebell and did mostly 2 arm swings so the workout was not too bad.
Swings to date: 2133.
Not bad for first 5 days. If I keep this schedule, I might reach 10,000 a few days before the schedule....

Yay, I am getting closer to my goal. I was drenching in sweat today. out of 849, I did 314 swings with 12kg with 2 arms. I am proud of myself if I say so myself....0 -

All done. I have done 659 swings yesterday to complete the challenge as I promised myself. I had to pull myself up from the ground afterwards but it was all worth it.
Total swings: 9484+659 = 10143
My endurance is up, my stamina is up and most of all my confidence is up. I probably lost 1.5 lbs but I will have an offical weigh-in a couple of days. My arm muscles are looking great.
I will probably do this again in December.
