Tough Mudder?

I have been thinking about signing up for this (October 13th). One of the employees at the gym believes I am capable of doing it but I am skeptical about my fitness level. I downloaded the Tough Mudder Boot Camp workout and the training seems "tough" but doable. I have been working out for over a year and a half. I lift weights, and do cardio (HIIT), I wonder if 3 months is enough time to train? Have you done it? If so, can you tell me about your experience?

I'm not sure how the TM compares with a Warrior Dash, but I did the WD completely out of shape and with no training and it was fine. I didn't win, though. LOL
The climb up the wall and the jump to the pole I had to slide down was scary, but that wasn't an issue of being in shape.

Warrior Dash is 5km/10 obstacles (which really feel like playground stuff, they're a nice break from running up a mountain). Tough Mudder is 16km/25ish obstacles including 2 electrified obstacles and several where you'll need to have reasonable upper body strength to traverse monkey bars and overhead ropes or climb over walls.

The two aren't really comparable in terms of difficulty. But, that said, if you've been working out for over a year 3 months is enough time for you to push harder and kick some *kitten* in the Tough Mudder. If at all possible recruit some friends and run it as a team, the encouragement when you hit something like the ice bath or electricity is priceless. (I bullied 7 friends into running it with me this September.)

For their recommended workouts, you can download the Skimble Workout Trainer app for iPhone or Android, some helpful person has added all 3 levels of TM training, so your phone can just walk you through it. Good luck. :)

I'm hoping it is. I have one in October and training got sidelined while I moved.

I'm doing SL 5x5, running some, and body weight stuff like push ups, pull ups, box jumps, etc

Hoping this will be enough to get me through :)

3 months will have you prepared enough to do the tough mudder, you won't finish first but you will finish!

I am doing a Tough Mudder this Sunday. It will be my first one.

I've previously done a spartan sprint.

TM is 10 miles long and I'm guessing hilly. I would concentrate on getting that endurance up. With the Spartan I was able to get assistance on obstacles from others if I needed it, or skip them altogether (for a 30 burpee penalty)

Thank you for the app recommendation! I am going to check it out. Tough Mudder 2014 in WI! Oh and I giggled when seeing comparison of the Warrior Dash to the Tough Mudder...I am doing the MuckRuckus which is a 10K in August and I would not compare that to the TM either!

After doing the Beast(15.5 miles on a ski hill) on Sunday, a Tough Mudder sounds like a relaxing afternoon lol

I just voluneered for the TM last weekend and It was the most badass mudrun I've every seen, Ive done muck ruckus, rugged manic, warroir dash, ms mudrun, go commando.. The tough mudder is really at the top. I'm prepping to join my team and run it next summer (pregnant this time around)

3 months is enough time to train, I managed it last year. Make sure you can run at least 7 miles, you might want to work on running hills depending where you're running. Lots of strength training and upper body strength too!

Highly recommend the team, some obstacles are basically impossible on your own. But even if you run solo, everyone helps everyone. The camaraderie is awesome :-)

Make sure you're mentally prepared too. Plan to dive into every obstacle without fear, don't let anything psych you out!

Good luck, you'll have a blast!
