Knee/Elbow Pain Help

Recently I started doing Body Pump. I love the results, but I am experiencing knee pain and elbow pain. I try very hard to watch my knees and keep them in the right position. I also do Turbo Fire on cardio days. My idea.....to help the pain is to do a strength day, cardio day, and then rest day....repeat. So every third day I would rest. I try to workout five times a week and this schedule will cause me to sometimes workout four times a week (depending on the calendar). Does anyone have any better suggestions?

  • I'm by no means an expert but I used to experience pain in my shoulders and knees after workouts. I found that strength training helps (working the muscles around the joints that get sore). Then afterwards, have a good cool down and then ice the joints. Alternate cold and hot for about 10-15 minutes then take some Ibuprofen. Seems to keep mine at bay, but everyone's different. You might also give low impact exercises a shot. Things like elliptical machines and combat ropes work the body thoroughly but aren't as hard on it.
  • Thank you! I'll try just about anything at this point! I'm just afraid to lessen my workout schedule!

  • Thank you! I realized that I have been lifting my toes when I'm doing squats. This has put a lot of pressure on my knees. So I'm more conscious of what I'm doing now. My elbows, however; this has been a problem since I was a teenager. Tennis elbow symptoms but I've never played tennis. Thanks for all the help you guys!
