blasted my quads on Teusday, then a hard run last night
major DOMS this morning, feeling great. Soon I won't be able to really feel this soreness any more so I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts 8-)

I'm hating the DOMS, lol. My *kitten* and hamstrings hurt so bad yesterday that I could barely walk up and down my stairs. I did chest and tri yesterday and today it was hard to put my van in park (shifter on the column) and I'm struggling just reaching for my water bottle! I'm just hoping this means success is on the horizon, lol.0

Started working on pull ups for the first time ever on Tuesday and still can't straighten my arms...not loving it so much, but hopefully it's a good hurt.0

Just started lifting again. Purposely went very light and just a few zones at a time...still had major DOMS in those zones. Takes me about 3-4 days to be able to move well again.

Looking back on when I started to experience DOMS (because I never used to get it) I'm working on some theories for why it presents itself in my body. There are definite minerals and vitamins I am consistently lower on than others. For me, I suspect my iron levels play a role as well as potassium.

I'm not an expert in exercise physiology, but I believe the anecdotal "internet knowledge" on the DOMS matter is that it is a phenomenon that occurs when one is out of season from lifting.
I can attest to this-- whenever I take some time off and just begin the process of tearing down/building up muscle again, I get a full DOMS hit. But with each week, it's harder and harder to get that same, prolonged burn, even as my progress goes up.0 -
If I'm feeling like I've plateaued a bit, shaking up my routine really helps - and I always get that lovely 'I did something worthwhile yesterday' DOMS hum. Either picking the weight right up so I can only just squeeze out one or two reps, or dropping the weight right down and going for ridiculously high reps but with no breaks... Hello DOMS, I missed you.0

DOMS is meaningless. I only get DOMS if I take several weeks off from lifting, to recover from an injury or illness. All DOMS means to me is that I've been lazy. The last time I had any DOMS was about 4 months ago, after recovering from surgery. I judge workout effectiveness by weights going up and lap times going down, not whether I feel sore or not.0
