New and I need advice

I wanted to share what my routine has been and maybe get some advice. I know this isn't the healthiest but I'm trying : ) I have twins that just turned a year old so I don't have much time to myself to sit down and eat. I usually skip breakfast and just have coffee because as soon as the kids wake me up I have to take care of them first. By the time I am done with everything it is almost time for lunch so I drink a visalus shake while feeding them. Nap time is after lunch so I fit in 30 minutes of a work out dvd. And the only meal I can actually sit down and eat is dinner after I put the kids to bed. My husband hates anything too healthy so I just eat smaller portions. I am scared I am hurting my metabolism but I honestly barely have time to shower everyday after everything is done. Could I lose weight doing this or is it just going to make me fatter? I have about 10 pounds to go until I am pre-pregnancy weight.

Make time for yourself. You will feel better and be a better mom for it. I have a three year old and a one year old and a full time job. I still find time to work out 6 days a week (usually at 5 am) and cook meals 6 out of the 7 nights and make lunches for both my husband and me every day. Have a protein bar for breakfast (my favorite are Quest bars). Or no cook things like fruit and greek yogurt. I sometimes make some sort of healthy protein pancake the night before and then pop them in the toaster in the morning. My kids love them too for breakfast. (The banana and egg recipie that is floating around here are pretty good). Eat veggies with dinner every night. Have your husband watch the kids for an afternoon on the weekend and pre-make a bunch of meals. I do the prep work either at night when they are sleeping or all at once on a Sunday for the week (chopping veggies, making sauces, etc).
I know it is hard but once you get used to it it becomes a routine.0 -
Thanks for the advice. This routine has been working well for me but I was just wondering if I keep doing this will it make me lose or gain weight?0

Impossible to say with the information provided. We would need to know your vital statistics or calculated calories goals and the method used (MFP default or TDEE- x%) and be able to see what you are eating (your diary is private) to be able to give useful feedback. Meal timing doesn't matter. If you can get everything you need in one big meal and one small meal, go for it. You do need to make sure that you are getting enough dietary fat and protein and are eating close to you recommended calorie goal. If you do that, you'll lose weight.0

While coffee is OK, you're basically taking legal speed to get you through your morning. I think you would feel better and less tired if you had some protein in there. As someone mentioned, eat a protein bar, a smoothie or prepare something a few days ahead to eat for the week. Even a handful of almonds and raisins/craisins/dried fruit would be good (just make sure you have the nuts in there!)
I'm sure you're a great mom, but your kids can wait a couple minutes while you scarf down some food. You're taking care of them, so you need to take care of you, too!0
