Eat at least one hour before a morning runs (if it's a long run (less than 5K) and you're able to run without breakfast, I would do that). Usually Vector is a good cereal choice with a banana!
Oh, and I did the chinese food before a run... Never got to the run! LOL So cheers to you for at least getting to do the run!!0 -
I do my exercise on an empty stomach now, in the morning (obviously)
I always hated that eating too close to exercise feeling. It impairs perfmormance too.
And Chinese is just a no-no on a diet, full stop!! How did you get away with that one anyhow??? lol
All the best :flowerforyou:0 -
no poptarts. ever.
I know - ridiculous... i don't even buy them or really like them that much, but was babysitting last night and wanting a snack and thats what I found... the perils of being up waayyyyy later then my bedtime, i get hungry... or bored. ya... anyhow those 2 poptarts = 410 cals :grumble:
had i logged before eating it I definitely would not have after seeing that.... bahhh. not a big deal i had way more then enough excercise cals, but put my sugars and carbs over booo!0 -
cottage cheese before running...even hours before leaves weird cottage cheese burps...eww
I prefer to run in the afternoon..must be the many years of running cross country after school then coaching cross country after school. I always eat breakfast and lunch before I run but cottage cheese is a no no for me...
Oh..and except for my long run day I skip the gatorade...what a craptastic way to use up my calories when most of the time water is just fine.0 -

Oh yeah...the burps! Talk about being reminded of your mistake every quarter mile or so!
Totally agree on Gatorade-for-long-runs only (actually I use GU Brew)...all others I chug a Vitamin Water Zero after my run.
I ran with cross-country kids yesterday! Actually I downhill (hubby dropped me off at top) while they ran up...I felt soooo guilty for getting a ride to the top, but it was supposed to be an easy run and I have a downhill 1/2 this Saturday. Inspiring kids!0 -

I'm guessing you ate heavy-fried foods before running and that dragged you down?
Ugh, I had sesame chicken the other day and could barely work my shift. Veggies and steamed rice are god. Portion control is also god. If it's a buffet - watch your plate!0 -
Actually, no fried anything (except the fortune cookie and one spring roll). Not sure what did it to me...had "spicy" chicken, chicken chow mein, and beef with broccoli (kinda saucy). Maybe the chow mein? I don't normally do flour...0

Don't eat a chili cheese dog before a personal training session. Not a good feeling.0

LMAO...that reminds me of another: Don't get tipsy on mint juleps at the horse races before a personal training session0 -

I do remember I had a side of fries one time before going for a running and it made me feel sick. I stay away from greasy stuff because as I run it makes me feel queasy.
Generally I like to run on an empty stomach and eat after. That way I don't have to feel anything sloshing around in there whilst I go.0 -
i ran on the treadmill less than 20 minutes after eating and while exercising i drank nearly 2 cups of water.....big no-no! my stomach felt so sick while i was running. next time, i should wait a bit and not drink so much water, lol!0

sloshy belly also stinks. Sometimes in a race I will actually pass up a water station, especially in a 10K or 5K...if I have hydrated enough before hand drinking while I run makes me ave sloshy belly...not only does it feel odd but I am sure others can hear it...LOL
Cross Country runners are the best. We know we are a little out there to happily run 12 miles but we love it anyway. I was also a science teacher so I had weird running lady who will talk about gross stuff like it is neat.0
