Give it a try...what will it hurt? I was at a standstill for about three weeks. I finally just ate a really good meal, something I hadn't had in a long time. Sure enough the weight started dropping again. Different things work for different people. But if you don't try and mix it up a bit you will never know. Good luck!

I have tried it before. It works while you are on it but once you go back to eating regular food you gain it all back. It is ok for trying to lose a small amount of weight quickly, like for a special occasion or something. But it doesn't work for long term weight loss.

oh, it definetly works. When I was in my 20s, about 15 years ago, before I got married I lost 54lbs in 2 1/2 months. I walked every day for 1 hour, and stayed on the diet withour cheating what so ever for 2 1/2 months. You ccan definetly loose the weight on Grapefruit. Just stay near the bathroom, and you still hav to exercise. But now 15 years later I have gained ALL 54lbs back and then some.
I gianed all but 17lbs back within the 1st year I had a friend that did Grapefruit, and he lost the weight, but today he has BAD heart problems, and the DR tod him that it probably came from eatting all the Protein. I know that it is slow going. I have been trying to eat healthy for since July 12th and only lost 22lbs. I know I can lose more on Grapefruit, and it has been so tempting, but you can't eat the grapefruit diet for the rest of your life. Eatting healthy may be the slower way, but it is the best way!

I tried it a very long time ago and I did lose weight but when I went stopped the process, I gained the weight back. I did plateau in this journey and I ate 1/2 grapefruit twice a day for about 4 days and it seemed to jumpstart me back on the weight loss. Good Luck!

OMG this totally worked for me! The eating a good meal thing. And I didn't even mean for it to happen. I have been pretty diligent with not eating over my 1200 cals. This past week I upped my cals to 1380, as was 1 lb from my goal and did not want to lose extra. But I had a bad week and ate A LOT more cals than I was allotted for 2-3 days. Moral of this story- I lost 2.8 lbs this week when I raised it from 1.4/wk to 1/wk. I think the key is to keep your metabolism guessing. The good news is that that doesn't necessarily mean eating LESS. Good luck!!!

If anything, it will help detox your system at least a little, sometimes that's the push needed to bypass a plateau. As I've got older though, I've realized that hitting a plateau is just my body's way of telling me it's in a routine and I need to break it, so I change my routines every so often to avoid getting bogged down. With my workouts, I added ankle weights a bit over 2 months ago & dropped a full size, I just added wrist weights a couple weeks ago to my regular routines and have noticed that my shoulders are more squared and my upper body is toning better. It appears these little add-ins work for me.

Although every body is different and functions/responds to different stimulae, I've found that variety is truly the spice of life, so I vary on everything from food to exercise & don't let myself get stuck in rut.

I was curious on what the Grapefruit diet was since I naturally like grapefruit. I came upon this article on WebMD. You should read it.

Of course as a personal trainer and someone who has done quite a bit of research into nutrition, I'm for very few "diets" in this context, I'm for healthy high nutrition foods and a reasonable deficit. But I won't blather on about it, instead I'll post a link to a review of it by some nutrition specialists from WebMD.

Thanks every1 for ur responses.. I have decided I am going to only do the 12 days(if I can last LOL), and then I am going to go back to my normal eating healthier routine and if I like grapefruit may eat one once in awhile.. It never hurts to try 12 days of something.. I am NOT going to do it long term.. Just long enough to get me over my plateau.. Thanks again every1!!

The grapefruit diet would work the same as the lemon diet. Also, since you won't be taking in any fats you could just as easily do a fruit diet. But, I would caution you. CAUTION you. You should at least take Omega 3 capsules each day in order to get in your healthy fats. If you don't take in any healthy fats this could affect your skin and hair. Please at least do that.

Any diet that has the name of a food in it is short term IMO. Give it a go if you want but as the link above explains, there is no "secret fat burning ingredient" in grapefruit.
