Hitting a plateau...

I have been accurately counting my calories for about a month now. For the first three weeks I steadily lost weight but for the last week I have seemed to hit a plateau. This might seem a little impatient but does anyone have any tips for increasing my weight loss?

A true plateau is a lot longer than week. You're going to just need to be more patient. Sorry if that isn't the type of tip you were looking for.0

Thanks for the tip nonetheless! I just had a goal in mind before I went on vacation and I'm a little disappointed I won't reach it!0

Well you know, just because it didn't show up on the scale, does not mean you didn't lose more weight. Sometimes hormones and sodium can make us retain more water weight. Don't feel discouraged.0 -
It's normal. I usually lose all my weight in like 10 days, then nothing for 3 weeks.0

To get off a plateau you'll need to exercise OR if you're already doing that on top of calorie counting, increase the time you exercise by 10-15 mins. Or you can increase the intensity or try exercising different muscles groups. After a while of doing the same things over and over your body sort of becomes use to it and you'll have to do a little more to keep losing weight. It doesn't take much, just a little bump up in what your doing currently. Hope that helps, that's what I have to do anyway!0

This is true too..... I've weighted the same 3 days in a row sometimes and then I'll start to loose again. I'd wait to see if your body truely is in a plateau. Otherwise step up your workout a bit!0

Don't give up hope yet. Weight loss isn't linear. You might lose nothing this week, then two lbs the next. You may still reach your goal. You won't know until you're there.
A bit of advice, though. Most have found that "I want to lose X lbs by Y date" usually ends up in disappointment unless you give yourself a lot of leeway for "life happens".0 -
I hit some plateaus. I realized I wasn't counting condiments and the occasional snack- which now I count everything! You are only lying to yourself...
The next thing I did was Start doing Intermittent Fasting & reduced my carbs. I now do 18 hour fasts - eating from 2-8pm daily. I've also done a 24 & 36 hour fast just to get past the mental block of snacking... This has helped reduce my hunger, feel like I'm eating huge meals, controls my insulin (puts me in fat burning much longer than normal eating habits). Since I've started doing this I've been dropping 4 lb. per week on average. my lean mass has stayed the same as well.
There are three others who are losing weight with me. I have told each of them to do the same, and they are all showing similar results. The first few weeks can be chalked up to water weight (each gram of carb can hold on to 3 grams of water). I also found going into ketosis has helped with my hunger (which is the only reason I am doing that along with being in optimal fat burning zone).
Hope this helps!0 -
