New Here...

New to MFP and just wanted to say hi. I am mid 30's and have struggled with my weight my whole life, from a very young age. At one point in my life I had lost over 100 pounds, but I did it the wrong way and of course it came back and brought a few extra pounds with it. Since then I have been a serial yo-yo dieter. I need to buckle down and get serious, I am tired of being FAT and unhealthy! This sounded like a great place for motivation and to support one another. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. Nice to meet you all, and good luck with your goals everyone!:heart:

    I am new too, trying to lose weight for my sister's wedding. I was down 7lbs but appear to have put up2lbs this week. I do 20/30 mins per night on stationary bike at home and try to do it at lunch in work on a Monday/Wednesday, so its double the amount I guess. Am raging I am up 2 this week but it happens I suppose. 1200 cals in my limit and I try stick to it. If I am allowed 1200 cals per day and I earn say 200 cals on the bike, should I then eat 1400 cals? OR is it better not too, am a little confused. Thanks in advance to you all. PS well done on so many success stories.

    If you exercise and it says you can have more calories it is not a bad thing to eat them. Remember slow and steady is what it takes for healthy weight loss, so feel free to use those extra 200 calories. This isn't a sprint it is a marathon.

    Welcome! I've only been here for 6 weeks and it's changed my life! I lost a ton of weight a few years back too really fast and it came back on even faster, MFP has been a great eye opener for me. I started because I'm in my sister's wedding and I'm the only big one, the other girls are all super skinny models... oh well I'm doing this for me right?

    I've been on fitness pal for a while but I got lazy and stopped tracking my food. I'm orginally from Canada but ended up in S. Texas. I've put on about 30-35 lbs so I'm back tracking everything and have also joined a little gym by my house. This is week 1 for me (this time). Would love to be friends with others on this site.

    @valerie

    If you're from Canada, i understand... i pack on the pounds during our winters here in Winnipeg lol... i call it "insulation". But that's just my way of not feeling bad about it.

    Good luck to you all!!! I already see the amount of support everyone is offering and it leaves me feeling positive about this weight loss attempt :)

    Hi Donna~
    Welcome to MFP! Please feel free to add me. I have been on MFP faithfully for over a year and have been very successful. I will be 49 this year and my metabolism has definitely been slowing down over the years. My doctor turned me onto MFP; needless to say both my doctor and I are happy with the results so far. I am 5 - 2 and was weighing in at 235 in April 2012. I am now down to about 149-150. I would like to get down to 140; still trying. I am not as strict on myself as when I started so the weight loss has slowed down. I am happy and I believe my 10 pounds remaining will come off in due time if I keep doing what I'm doing. How tall are you? The most important goals for you to set is to log in everyday....no matter what....and be honest....even if you blow it and eat too much on a particular day. Try and exercise at least five times a week. I started off slowly by walking and now continue walking along with strengh training. In the beginning I ate 1200 calories a day and did not eat back my exercise calories. My exercise calories were around 150 to 200 five days a week. Since I am close to goal, I am now am eating about 1300 calories a day (excluding my vacation trips). I may not eat the most healthy choice of foods, but I do not feel deprived and I can stay committed and live with the choices I make. I do what works best for me. This isn't my first rodeo. I have stuggled with my weight my entire life. I have lost over 100 pounds THREE TIMES from age 21 to now, to obviously gain it back and then some each time. With MFP I am determined to keep the weight off! All of my fat clothes are gone, my jewelry has been resized; there is no turning back now! MFP is the first program I have used where I am accountable for what I eat and how I exercise AND it's FREE!! Yes, the ads are a little annoying, especially when I use my tablet, but totally worth the results! Good Luck and Stay True to yourself! Donna in Las Vegas

    Hi

    Im new also. started three days ago. currently weigh 19 stone - my heaviest yet. Ive always been fat, but this is the first time that lve tracked what l eat. lts been a sobering few days. l know l eat too much, but to be honest the thought of changing the habits of a lifetime is pretty daunting at the moment. just writing this is very scary.
  • Welcome, Today is my first day really getting serious with this.I need some friends to keep me going through this and hopefully help me acheive my goals.

    I would love to be the O.P's friend, but scary clowns are too Stephen King for my liking!
  • So many people were creeped out by my Pennywise the clown photo...so I changed it. Sorry to all who had Stephen King dreams last night thanks to my picture ;)
