I got kinda quiet the end of last week!...sorry!:ohwell: I am not feeling 100% I think I have a cold coming on. UGH! We had a nice holiday weekend though! My hubby and daughter picked some grapes that I juiced and froze so I can make some jelly over the winter. OMGOODNESS! When I was pouring it through the straining bacg, the bag fell over and the grape juice went down the wall and all over the counter! We haven't painted the walls since I pulled the wallpaper off, so I laughed and asked everyone if they like the color purlbe ofr the new paint job! I guess it's better than freaking out!

I haven't weighed my self in a couple of days....I went over on Sat by a 1000 cals! That is unheard of for me...ugh...I don't want ot see the result of that!

what's on your agenda for the week?

Hello! We had a busy holiday weekend. Ate poorly on Saturday, but I was active too. Unfortunately, I didn't get all my water in either. Went to the Farmer's Market, out for brunch, then to Kohl's and then the mall.

Went to the pool Sunday and Monday. Yesterday was the last day the pool would be open for the season. Probably a good thing too. It was FREEZING!!!!! :noway:

I posted this on Facebook yesterday, so now I'm posting it here to help keep me accountable. I have decided to enter the Run Too Overcome 5k on March 26. Don't know how well I'll do or if I'll even be able to run the whole thing by that time, but I'm going to enter. They also have a 1 mile Kids Fun Run that my kids are excited about doing also.

Nicole - I love the grape story! Hope you feel better soon!

Here's to a good week for all of us! :drinker:
  • Hey ladies! I think we all had really big weekends! I also was above my calories and definitely not so active. Back at it this week right? I managed to stay under today but haven't "done" anything today besides errands.

I am sort of "banned" from exercise because of my bum hip. It is hurting again and so I don't do much when that is going on. I go in on Thursday for another cortizone shot & hopefully that will help a lot. I am really not happy that the last one only lasted 3 months. I don't want to have to get several shots a year to be okay. ARG!

I survived the carry in dinners & didn't do too bad but dinner at my mom's put me way over. :( Love mom just not her cooking.

Amy--EXCITING about the 5K! You can do it! Sounds fun for you and the kids.
Nicole--love purple but the walls? Hmmmm interesting. Of course I painted a room lime sherbet green this summer--my girls chose it though.

    Have a great week everyone!

Amy- Yay! one the 5k!:drinker: I know you can do it! And that's plenty of time to train.

Kim- Lime green? hmmmmm....I think I would rather have the purple! Is there maybe a pool that you could go to and start to swim laps? That might be good for the hip. I hope the cortisone last longer this time!

I am feeling better...but you always feel better in the afternoon early evening dontcha?~
  • Hello Ladies,
Homeschooling started back up today and I should be diligently getting back to my workout and calorie counting routine now...but I am still up at 11:25 pickling beets and making pesto and posting lol:laugh: It's going to be a little challenging to get out of summer mode this year.
I haven't counted or logged food in months and I haven't regularly been at the gym in months either. I have maintained by running a few times a week but I know I need to get back to work. I think I've said that for the last 4 or 5 posts I've made... Words of encouragement (even slightly abrasive ones  )welcome!

Amy- Good for you on the race!!! I have been thinking of signing up for one in Oct. I just need the extra 20.00 lol.
Nicole- I wanted to pick grapes but I can't seem to find a good amount in my reach anywhere! I had finally found some that my dad's bucket truck could get too but the birds seemed to know I was coming and there was very little left when I finally got my plan in motion.
Kim-I do hope your hip feels better with the shot. How many can you have? I thought you could only have a certain number in your lifetime? My hip bothers me periodically too. I know for me it flares up when I have been sitting too much ironically.

Goals: drink lots of water tomorrow
log all calories for a reality check
get a run in sometime during the day.

Nicole~Don't feel bad! We all go through those times what matters is that you want to keep going. There are many people that once it gets to be too hard they give up and then complain about not losing any weight. I have some friends like that and some family drives me crazy. You are doing awesome keep it up.

Amy~That is great about the 5K. Hope that you can meet your goal with it.

Kim~Hope the hip gets feeling better and also that you can go longer between.

I am really looking forward to friday. We are getting our internet back in our home now it will be more convient for me to log my food. I have been having to wait until I can get on to the hubby's laptop to do what I need and by the time I do that I just don't feel like logging it all. I know bad excuse but at least I have maintained my weight. Now I am ready to get back to losing again. Monday was a horrible day for calories. My dinner alone was like over 700. We made our own toasted subs. Which is healthy but I went over board on the cheese and had 200 calories in just cheese.:noway:  :grumble: I have been really enjoying having over half the kids in school. I know I shouldn't wish away their childhood but it has been nice to be able to get more done. Plus so nice to have them appreciate what I do for them more than they have been. Well I am getting tired and need to get up early tomorrow since the hubby is leaving early for work so he won't be able to get the kids off to school.

Good morning, ladies! I had a big weekend as well, with a party at our house on Sunday night. There was a lot of food and I ate a LOT of food....also drank a LOT of wine.:drinker: But with all the cleaning up I had to do on Monday you'd think I would have burned some of those calories off.

I am mixing it up this week, and doing 3 days of muscle fatigue, 2 days of cardio at the gym, rather than my usual 5 days of cardio. Hopefully this will bust me out of the rut I have been in for far too long. My husband saw a commercial for P90X and said if I did it, he would do it too. I said that if I did it, and at the end if I was still unhappy with my poochy baby belly, I could get a tummy tuck. We are still negotiating.

Katie~don't feel guilty about being happy the kids are in school! Yes, they are growing up, but you are right, it will be nice for you to be able to get more done! My husband wants me to homeschool ours, I wouldn't have that opportunity.

Momof3~you are so close to your goal, it is amazing! keep up the good work. And also with canning. That's awesome.

Kim~So sorry to hear about the bum hip! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Amy~That is so impressive on the 5K. You can do it!! I went to Kohl's this weekend too, isn't it just the GREATEST?

Nicole~lol...purple on the walls....Don't give up, girl, you just keep pushing through, okay?

Thanks for all of the well wishes! I feel better today. Did anyone every try to make cards with stamps etc? IS there an easy way to get the ink evenly on the stamp so it looks mice on the card? Hubby's b-day is tomorrow and I just tried to make a card....looks like poop.

Katie- It's ok to be happy that the kids are in school. Think of it this way...they are getting to socialize with their peers. That's a good thing.

Home- I have only heard good things about the P90X. Stacey does it alot.

    Stacey? How are ya?
  • Nicole- I used to stamp a lot, the key is good stamps and good ink. I never really had much luck with craft store stamps only the expensive kind from Stampin Up that my sister used to sell lol. Good luck!

Thank you Home and Nicole! You know how it is to feel guilty about things that you do as a mother I am sure.

Home~My hubby did the P90X workout and is loving it. He finished his first 90 days and he looked good before but now he is just HOT. It should be illegal for him to look that good. It slimmed down the areas that needed it and "buffed" up the areas that needed it. He is now wanting to start it again for another 90 days. I am a little nervous for him to do it. If he has that much success again than he is going to look even better. I just need to get my butt in gear and start doing it. I am just nervous because it WHOOPS your butt! I did the cardio x, yoga x and the ad ripper x with an oh man they KILLED me! Of course it's all for the good so I just need to quit whinning about it and do it.

Nicole~The only stamps and ink that I have are from stampin up or close to my heart I have not had any problems with them working well for me. When I used other ink or stamps I did. Good luck with getting it to work for you. Happy Birthday to the hubby.

So this week we (friend and myself) were suppose to be getting back to doing our workouts (aside from my walking up the horrendous:laugh: hill to the kids school). That is out the window  she had to take her disability child to the hospital and he was admitted and will be staying until at the very least Monday of next week. He recently had a surgery and since then the have found that he got a UTI from them catheter and then the most recent they suspected a blood clot and sure enough he had a "jelly" one (the start of one). As if he hasn't had enough to go through now this. He is the sweetest child ever! Everyone that comes in contact with him absolutely loves him. I am just glad that the caught it early hopefully he can come home soon. Well I am off.
  • Hi there, mind if I join the conversation?

I am a sahm of 4 hillarious kids. My oldest daughter (the rule follower) is almost 10,she plays softball, soccer, and does Girl Scouts. Daughter #2 (the rule bender) is 8, she also plays softball, soccer, and does Girl Scouts. Daughter #3 is almost 3 and is another rule bender. My only son and baby is 18 months and we call him the laugher. If you need a smile moment you can always count on him to give it. God knew I needed a more even tempered child after my extremely strong willed middle 2.

I love staying home but it can get pretty stressful with no other adult conversation all day! My husband is the Associate Pastor of our church and a very involved dad, for which I thank God every day. It is a new adventure every morning and I wouldn't change a moment of it for anything!

I have been on this weight loss journey for almost a year now. I initially lost 20 or so pounds last winter and spring and then took the summer off. I was happy with just maintaining through all the cook outs and celebrations! My new goal is to kick another 20 pounds by Christmas.

This thread sounds like exactly what I need to encourage me and keep me on track!

Welcome Jenny! I hope that you enjoy this group as much as I have. It really is a great group of ladies!

Well I just wanted to pop in early and share my exciting bit of news with everyone. I volunteer up at the kids school every Thursday. I go and help the Kindergarten teacher with taking them to library so she can have some prep time. Well I walked up there and jogged a little bit of the time and shaved almost a minute off of my time last week. Well I decided that I wanted to run back home. So I did it and I am proud to say that I ran the whole way, .63 of a mile! Makes me feel GREAT that I did it!!!

Welcome Jenny! This is a great group of ladies!

Melissa and Katie- I was given the stamps and ink....that is probably why they got rid of them!

Katie- You made me smile commenting about your husband like that ! I think that is so cool! WAY TO GO on the running!!!! that is even more awesome! Keep it going girl!

I ran this morning because I have to take Kyle to Orchestra this afternoon. I do really like to run in the morning and get it overwith. I am trying to get into the swing of things...some days are better than others. I mentioned that I need to do my cross stitch project for my mom for Christmas...( It's a lighthouse scene).well....I haven't been working on it! :blushing: :blushing: I need something to light a fire under my butt!
  • sorry it's taken me so long to get here this week! Hope everyone is happy and healthy!

pardon my typos and such..... Insomnia hit and using the cell.

been crazy here, still fighting health probs on top of the weight. Bonus tho cause every time I'm going to the docs I'm .5 to 1 pound less!

did a photoshoot with fellow model and bodybuilder this week. Talk about inspiration!

katie, I grinned when I read that your hubby did 90x. I now have proof someone elses hubby did it in my suggestions mine picks it up!! :)

those of you that are running.... Wow. Takes some dedication but the results are soooo worth it! Keep it up!

welcome jenny! Yes this is an awesome group of women, and a slice of sanity when you need a minute away from being mommy.
  • Thanks for the welcome ladies!

I convinced myself to get up with the 6 am alarm this morning and go for my walk even though it was still dark. So I got ready walked into the livingroom where the windows are open and realized it was raining! What a bummer I hate when I get up early for nothing:noway: I decided to switch the routine and did my cardio routine this morning and am hoping the rain goes away for a bit this afternoon to get my walk in.

    Have a great morning everyone!

Thanks for the laugh Nicole and Red! I had to share what I typed about the hubby with the hubby after that because he was asking why I was laughing. Of course he got all embarrassed and was shaking his head at me.

Nicole~I find that it is sometimes difficult to get motivated to do art projects. I love lighthouses though I have always wanted to do my kitchen in them but could never find stuff I liked to do it! Either that or I would see the stuff when I did not have the money to get it. :grumble:

Jenny~Oh I hate waking up early so I can total understand if I got up early to go for a walk and it was raining I would be bummed too! I have never been a morning person but I have been wanting to change that and I have been doing better since the kids are back in school.

Not really anything new to say other than I rode my bike to my friends house last night. I am a little disappointed in how long it took to get there. She lives about 4 miles away and it took me 20 minutes. A few months ago it would have only taken me 15 minutes. I guess that is what I get for not keeping up on the biking like I should have. I will get it back though. Hope you guys are all having a good Friday....date night for me and the hubby yay!

Red- That's cool that you did a photo shoot with a body builder...I think i would be very insecure with my body if I were to do that.

Jenny- I am not a morning person either. I have to force myself to be.

Katie- I hear ya on the no money when you want to get/do something.:grumble: You will get back into the swing of your biking.

Wish me luck ladies! I am running in a 10k race tomorrow!:drinker:

    hehehehe
dh is doing p90x again now. he did lose wt and gained real muscle. and then....well, let's just say he didn't maintain it. neither did i....
i did kenpo with him the other afternoon. still fun! it is a GREAT program, even if you don't do every part to the letter. and it's amazing how when you just keep pushing play, as Tony says, you WILL improve.
when i first did abripperx, i called it abripper.25x cuz i cd only do 1/4 of each of the exercises.

anyway, there are lots of boards out here for support and many REAL ppl who have done it.

sorry i haven't been on all week. thur and friday were the jewish holidays and altogether not proud of my ever increasing girth/#s so haven't wanted to be on here. kwim?

welcome jenny! this is a great group and we really get the unique position of being mom/caretaker and also woman who wants to achieve tangible goals. :)

kim, sorry your hip is still bothering you. as for cortisone shots--are you having systemic side effects or its good work is localized to making your hip feel better. if you're not having systemic rxns, i wdn't worry too much about needing 4 shots per year. but get more opinions till you KNOW all your options and find what works for YOU.
you should all know i'm not much of a homeopathic girl. fine for others, but i'm much more the traditional gimme the drugs route. therefore, take any "advice" i dispense with that in mind.

congrats nicole on your 10k!! so stinkin proud of you!
and katie--for running. you too amy!
i ran downhill this AM .4mi. easy peasy---cuz it was downhill.

alright, gotta get organized for tomorrow and turn in.

i know i didn't mention everyone---but i did get caught up on the posts. will chk more this week. ((hugs))
