HELP!!!

Guys,

I am very frantic and panicked right now. I have lost about 17 lb so far. Somehow, I managed to reel in my eating during that time. Eating has always been the biggest obstacle for me.

Now, however, my appetite has returned to the state it was before, back when I felt that I couldn't reel it in and lose weight.

I don't know how this happened or how to get back. I've lost control. I am trying to stay around maintenance calories or to a little over. I'm very frightened and ashamed and I know if I can't get control again then I am going to lose my progress, regain weight, and be unable to lose any more. I've been off track for a few weeks now and I don't know what to do. I feel like crying. Help me please.....

Also, I've been able to do okay during the day, but when night comes, it's like all I can do to find peace is to eat, and it's killing me because I don't want to be fat anymore but I don't know how else to cope. Any ideas? (And please don't be hateful, I can't take it right now....thanks.)

Air Popcorn and low cal spray butter. Anytime I need to just eat. It takes care of that repetitive need to eat, eat, eat. I don't do it that much anymore. And maybe write about how you feel before you eat, find out what sets you off.

This happens to me, I lose some weight and then become ravenous. Try not to be too hard on yourself and know that as long as you take it one day at a time you will keep moving forward!

At night I try and brush my teeth early so I can avoid food or I have to brush again. Also, when I start to get hungry but I'm at my calorie limit I will drink a big glass of water - this helps! Do you have a hobby, something to do with your hands? I crochet and find it is hard to snack when I'm counting and using both hands!

    Good luck!

Save some calories for night munching - if you can't beat 'em join 'em concept.

Plan a big rabbit platter - munch through a bunch of raw veggies to satisfy the crunch urge.

Allow yourself a treat - weekly maybe - so you don't feel deprived. The deprivation can be defeating.

You are at maintenance - and I know you must be afraid of slipping back - but find some room to breath without throwing it all back in.

I tried to look at your diary, but it's closed :-( My first thought is that your calories are set too low. It's best to lose weight slowly than quickly. I don't know how long it took you to lose your 17 pounds - but congratulations to you!! If your calories are at 1200, up them to 1300 and see if that helps you. MFP is really bad about setting EVERYONE at 1200 lol. You have a few basic options - increase your calories (there can be a balance of not starving all the time and still losing weight) or you can increase your exercise to offset the extra calories if you go over. I wish you the best of luck, and feel free to friend me!

You've done a GREAT job losing 17 pounds! That's awesome! So.......you KNOW you can do this. Calm down, take a deep breath, and look at what has brought you to feeling so out of control. Stress level? Change in what you have eaten? Not drinking enough water? How about the exercise component? Something has worked to have you loose 17#! It helps me to occasionally "take a day off" from the pressure of loosing weight. That doesn't mean gorge yourself......just cut yourself a little slack to be less than perfect. Regroup, focus on why you want to do this......then get back on the wagon and figure out what works for you. Good luck!

I'm on Glucomanan. It's a help supplement that help you feel full.
The only side effort I'm experiencing is it makes me a bit burpy. It plus the water is keeping me in check.
The others are right. Try to think about stress sources and see what you can do to address any issues there.

Your doing a great job...i look forward to the day i have lost 17 lbs !, so take real pride and a sense of achievemnet in that ! Take a step back and a dispassionate look at what you have done and you will realise how far you have come. when i get hungry now i drink a pint of water with a thin cracker.
  • I get hungry at night too, and while this isn't the healthiest option it is healthier then eating to much. I grab a diet soda and sip at it. Something with flavor and bubbles really helps. Hot drinks like tea or coffee help too!
