What's so special....

This is day one. I've never considered myself special..... at all. Everyone in my family was outstanding in some way.... everyone but me. So I had myself a pity party.... a really 7 course pity party that lasted for decades. I look back at YEARS wasted and am filled with shame that I allowed this to happen.
I have few friends, living in an extremely rural area, and very little support. Being lonely is it's own little demon and I fight that a lot as well.
But I want to really live. I want to find out what I'm made of. I want to challenge myself. I want to be on the edge. I want to struggle and fight and finally really live. Not just draw breath, but LIVE.
I need some friends, which is kind of hard for me to ask for, because I've been ingrained with, "dont ask for anything." But I plan on being very active here. I just purchased a fitbit, learning how to use that.
For right now, This right here, is my life.

I feel like I am in the same boat too. I battle depression. It is the biggest reason i get up and run three days a week to help overcome it. I gave my life to Jesus over three yrs ago. My life hasn't got much easier but it has been more purposeful. If it wasn't for Him, I am not sure I would be here right now. I wouldn't be running to Him. I seek Him daily. I too live in a rural area. I have a great church but everyone always seems busy. So I also feel I don't have much support. I do have a great wife though and am thankful for her support. But YES! I want to LIVE too! We are heading there! Just keep moving forward! Don't ever sit still unless it is with God. Blessings!0

Hi, I hear you loud and clear! I'm at that stage of my life also. I'll send you an invite so we can LIVE together! So to speak lol. I'm married, that would get crowded hehe. Sorry, thought you could use a smile maybe! I'm 50, live in Louisiana, have 5 children (3 mine/2 step) and 6 grandchildren. I've live very rurally also and I could always use the added support. I log daily, sometimes I eat right, sometimes I don't. I've dealt with my share of depression. But I'm still here acknowledging my problems and trying to fix them!0

Well I'm in the same boat with you all too! I am recently divorced & a little down and out but, I too, gave my life to Jesus Christ about a month ago & things are slowly beginning to look up for me. I am sending you all a invite so we can motivate one another0

It sounds like you're really ready to change your life and I just wanted to wish you all the best. Take it one day at a time, do the best you can, and forgive when things aren't perfect.
And you really impressed me with your "motto"...I hadn't seen it before (the "I am Female"...). I copied it and plan to hang it on my fridge as a reminder of how strong we ladies really are! Thanks for that.0 -
hey lady!!! you're going to love your fitbit... I've had mine just over a year, I recently sweated it into oblivion and I've been without for a couple of weeks (waiting for the lovely people at fitbit to send me a replacement).
I started running a couple of months ago using the C25K free training app, and I can tell the difference (ie my motivation to run has dwindled now can't log my steps) you've taken the first step coming here - acknowledging you need to do something is half the battle!
feel free to "friend" me...

Who told you my life story and why are you repeating it? lol. I can honestly say I made it through the first 55 years of life without really having a close friend. And I have always lived in crowded suburbs of large cities. But when I came out, suddenly I was free of the fear to forming friendships and now have quite a few friends. But still the doubts of not being worthy, not being special. Finally, my bff took my by the short hairs and spent a few hours *****slapping some sense into me. These incredible men who are now my friends wouldn't be my friends if I didn't have something special, something unique, something to offer. And putting myself down, doubting myself, made them feel helpless and would drive them away. And so I've turned the corner and realize I do have something to offer, something that others find appealing. The doubts are still there, but you have to beat them back.
Trust me, everyone has something special about them. Everyone has something to offer others. The hardest person in the world sometimes to love is yourself. But you have to start.
I'm here every day encouraging my friends, joking around with them, making suggestions, and learning from them. This has been a remarkable place for me. I have friends from 3 continents, 5 or 6 countries at least, men/women, old,/young, gay,/straight, black,/white, Christian/athiest. it's about as diverse a group as you could get. And I value each and every one of them. So if you want someone who has been there and who will encourage you, send me a friend request.
Good luck on your journey to a healthier life.0
