Four to five weeks.0

I was losing about 1 to 1.5 lbs. a month. Then, the last time took me about 6 weeks to lose 5 lbs. The difference was that I joined a challenge with some other women and we pledged to walk at least 10,000 steps a day average for 4 weeks. During that 4 weeks, I
lost 4 lbs. The other lb. took me 2 weeks to lose. I'm still walking more than I was, but it's not 10,000 steps a day.0 -
I'm not down to my last 5lbs yet, although I'm getting close, but don't lose hope, even 1lb in a month is a step in the right direction and all the time it is going down it means that eventually you will get there.
I/2lb is a real victory when you are this close to goal so just be patient. It's taken me a year to lose 40lbs but every minute of it has been worthwhile. Keep smiling and keep at it!0 -
I am purposefully losing very slowly for the last few (only a couple more to my stated goal, but I plan to go 3-5 below it) to make maintenance easier. It is harder to really know where I am now. While losing fast, I counted the lows and ignored spikes up because I was losing fast enough to be sure within a few days that the low reading was accurate (or even if it was reporting a little ahead, it was okay since it was soon surpassed). Anyway, I plan for it to take about 3 months to lose the last 6 or 8 pounds.0

Thanks for your help guys, I was hoping to lose the last 5lbs before my holiday but I guess I'll just keep trucking. I'm planning on relaxing but not going crazy food wise on holiday so hopefully won't put too much on!0

One other thing to be aware of in the last few pounds is re-establishment of glycogen stores. While you are losing a lot of weight and eating in deficit all the time, your glycogen stored tend to be only part way to capacity. That's because you use glycogen for energy and fat is converted into glycogen then used, so the glycogen store is a buffer. When you stabilize your weight, the glycogen storage will generally catch up. Glycogen is stored as a solution that is largely water. So this is a long winded way of saying that initial water loss you get when you start a diet comes back when you get near the end. So don't get discouraged if you suddenly get a bump of 3 or more pounds.0
