hi there,im new here, in may 2010 i was rushed to hospital with a ruptured aneurysm and they found another which was on its way, the surgeons coiled both and everything seems to be fine at the moment, apart from memory and headaches but lucky to be alive, ive always been the sort of person who is always on the go looking after 3 kids ,looking after house and going to work, but since this ive not been able to do any, ive actually put on nearly 2 stone in the space of 2 months and im thinking if i dont do anything now its going to get out of hand ,ive been told i cant exercise for at least another 4 months but ican actually do walking, so i thought if i do 30 mins walking and watch what im eating because ive also give up smoking i think its boredom more than anything, is there anything that i can have which is not high in sugar and fat, because ive been craving sweet things.

Hi Everyone! My name is Kathy and I have recently started the steps leading up to gastric bypass surgery. I am at the stage in my life I need to take control. I've had a few strokes that didn't kill me. And, the first one at age 37 wasn't even a wake up call to stop smoking. I finally quit last year. Nagged my husband to quit too. I really like this idea of keeping track of what I eat and how much exercise I'm getting to do. I'm working with a physical therapist and a dietician also. I would love to talk to anyone who wants! Maybe you can give me some different exercises to do? Or somehing different to eat, as long as it's high protein and less than 9 grams of suger! :flowerforyou:0

I am so glad that you are OK, and that you have stopped smoking. Now you can focus on making more Healthy Decisions for your future.
Walking is an awesome exercise, plus if you are able to walk outside it gets you away from the food when you are bored. Depending on your children's ages, they can go with you (and if you have to push a Stroller, that burns even more calories).I wouldn't worry about Speed or Distance at first, just focus on walking for a set amount of time every day. You can increase it gradually as you are able.0 -

Hi Scubie
Welcome to MFP.
I suffered from a brain aneurysm when I was 33 back in 1997. Thankfully, I survived the rupture and also the operation. I have no side effects now and live life to the max. Walking is perfect way to keep fit. I do it everyday!
Good luck on your weight loss journey.0
