I am coming to love your questions. Slowly.
Try searching for the details, lots and lost of threads on it.
Short answer - no, cos it doesn't exist in the way it is bandied around here.
If you want to go straight to the source google The Minnesota Project and Starvation Mode.... you will find out where all the diet gurus got their information from and how it got skewed.0 -
Doesn't exist within a few days of not eating. Has to be months or years - that's when your metabolism slows. So yeah - starvation mode - a myth.0

I'm agree with Kellehbeans, you need month or years to produce a change in your metabolism! don't worry about that.0

It is a myth. In studies where people eat reduced calorie diets over 1000 calories, metabolism slows only 4% to 10% and there is no point at which reducing calories doesn't increase the deficit. "Eat more" = "lose less" and "eat less" = "lose more" when done in clinical settings where accuracy of recording is assured. Making sure you are getting nutrients for health is a different issue.0
