Need help with my workout routine!!

Starting the end of August I will be a full time student and working part time. I am currently working full time and am a part time student (Summer Internship). I walk on the treadmill a few times a week but I know I need to get an actual routine down. I want to do strength and cardio. I have a treadmill at home but have access to an elliptical and bike and school. Any ideas? Thank you!

What weight equipment do you have access to? I'd start a basic barbell program with the compound lifts, starting with the bar or lighter dumbbells if needed to get used to the form. Squats, deadlifts, overhead press, bench and bent over rows are a great place to start. You don't need a lot of fancy accessory work when you're first starting out, imho. If you don't have access to any weights, I'd suggest purchasing resistance bands and/or looking into nerdfitness.com for some good bodyweight routines. I've also heard good things about Convict Conditioning and You Are Your Own Gym. Fitnessblender.com has some good videos as well as blogilates.com.

For cardio, you can do sprints on the treadmill or outside in intervals, same with the elliptical and bike. You can alternate those with each other and with longer, slower sessions as well.
  • Sounds good! I would like to be able to do the strength at home but I should be able to use the weights at school. I will check out those websites. Thanks!
