Tracker = truth serum

So I thought I'd actually done okay yesterday. Was drinking water, was spreading eating out, etc.
When I tracked my food I saw that I was over my allowance by OVER 1000 CALORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw that and I couldn't believe it. I mean, my breakfast is actually split up because I get up for work around 230 a.m., so I eat the bar and a coffee while I work, and then I have "breakfast" with my kids, but still....1000 CALORIES! Thank goodness for walking calorie allowances, but still.....
Just thought I'd share. Amazing how things look when you write them down.

You are so right! I think that is how I got in the overweight situation to begin with, because I just was not aware of the portion sizes and just how many calories I was consuming. Tracking what I put in my mouth is definitely key to my weight loss success and maintenance plan.0

Amazing isn't it...seeing your numbers in black and white right in front of you! You might want to consider keeping track throughout the day so you know where you are at...just an idea! Good luck!0

I had a day where I knew I went way over; I went to a birthday party (party = cake, snacks and high sugar beverages). I was tempted to not enter everything but then I would only be cheating myself. While I did go over, the fact that I was honest about what I ate made me feel ok about it. Since I'm doing a good job at regular exercise and rarely go over my calories for the day, one day is fine and I try not to beat myself up over it.0

I LOVE FOOD...and learning about it and helping others out with making better choices. My best friend was recently diagnosed with diabetes and is 28 years old (she is very upset but determined to change her ways with this diagnosis). So yesterday I took her to the store with me and I was showing her to look closely at nutrition labels. She couldn't believe how much calories, sugar and fat were in the things she was eating. Even some of the things she thought was good or decent (don't you love the marketing companies use to get us to buy their products..tricking most into believing it is good for you). She said she would eat a granola bar thinking it was "healthy" but in truth it the kind she was eating was just packed with sugar. You almost have to be, and pardon the language..."anal" or OCD about what you are eating. I know I am anyways.0

The numbers are what I love love love about MFP. I was shocked the first time I put, what I thought was, a serving of cheese on my $5.00 kitchen scale. It was 3.5oz, that's roughly 350calories, of just cheese. I would have put that on my broccoli, then eaten a chicken breast and wondered why I wasn't the weight I want to be at, "I eat healthy dang it". It just blew my mind and I knew in that moment why I was here. I'm so thankful to have found this tool. It makes me feel confident that I'm making real changes. I can now cut off a slice of cheese, toss it on the scale, and bang, 1oz. Knowledge is power.0
