Skinny athletic versus hourglass ?

I feel I look good. 5'9 and size 8. Definitely not a stick thin build. Hourglass (boobs, butt and relatively thin waist and legs). The size chart (hate those things) says I need to lose about 15-20 pounds more. I've always been told men prefer a liitle but of curves. Is this true or just myth??

It depends on the guy. For every body type, there is someone who prefers it.
Do what you want for yourself.0 -
When I reached the top part of my ideal weight the last time I lost, people kept telling me to stop losing weight. They said I looked great. My doctor told me I could stand to lost another 10-15 lbs, but I knew I couldn't maintain. I ended up maintaining at 5 lbs ABOVE my ideal weight, but I seriously looked great and I was HEALTHY!
Do what's right for you and your body type! Men like all types of women. Some like curvy and some like bones.0 -
You said that you look good, and I can see from your photos that you do. I'd say to maintain your current weight would be awesome but I do like curves. You sound happy with youself so well done!0

Definitely depends on the guy. I am very short (5 feet) but curvy. My boyfriend is very into the hourglass figure and worried that as I lose weight that will change. I have to keep reassuring him that my body type has been the same since I was 12 and thin so for me no matter what I weigh I will never have an athletic build; my giant boobd get in the way of that.0

It depends on the guy, big time.
I have an hour glass shape (big boobs, well defined waist, wide hips). My BFF is an athletic hottie, thin real nice legs.
We get hit on a lot, but never by the same guys.
So it's really about how you feel about it. If you're OK with your actual weight, feel beautiful and know for a fact that you won't be able to maintain another 10-15lbs loss, stay where you are.0 -

Agree completely!! This shouldn't be about pleasing other people's idea of 'perfect'.0 -
Looking at your pics I would think 15 lbs would be to much for you to lose. You look great now! I agree with Kanras, You go for the look you like and feel good about!0

Hi there Charts are there as a guide, there's no 'normal', just an 'average'. At the end of the day you should be a weight and size that's ideal and healthy for you. Different guys like different body shapes and I'm definitely on the side of look how YOU want not how someone else wants!! If they don't like you for being you then that's just not the right guy for you
Good luck with whatever you decide0 -
Thank you . I try to be happy and maintain a sense of humor. Life's too short !0

Lol! Those damn boobs! Ha. I totally get it. I too don't think I'll ever be rail thin. The trick is to feel good in your own skin.0

If your happy where you are now, I'd say well done on reaching your goal!
Men love a woman that is confident above all else.
Like a previous poster said, "There is someone for everybody type." Be happy and confident in the skin your in! (-;0 -
Thank you! I've been trying to remember that term all day but all I could think was "Timer sand shaped body" and I knew that wasn't right.
I'd say if you're comfortable how you are, keep it. A lot of times those tests say you need to weigh less than you should. My mother dropped down to 130 recently because some of some health issues and everybody thought she looked awful, like a skeleton, but accordingnto the books that was her "ideal" weight. Everybody is different. And besides, a lot of guys like a butt on a girl.0 -
1. you look great.
2. Look at all the art from the height of the roman empire. All those naked ladies were... well endowed.0 -
As long as you are happy and healthy, do whatever floats your boat.
Although I am baffled you think it has to be either or. I have boobs. Skinny, fat, athletic, still going to have them. Same with my hips. They aren't going anywhere. 15 pounds isn't going to transform your body, if your body type is naturally curvy, it will mostly likely stay curvy. If anything your butt will get perkier and rounder if you venture into lifting and doing squats.
If you want you can have the best of both worlds. But if you only want one or the other that is fine too. Just do what makes you feel good.0 -
There's no way to sum up what men prefer physically in a women. To say men more often prefer hourglass types or skinny builds would just be inaccurate.
My girlfriend definitely is very petite, but I definitely can point out buddy after buddy of mine that go for the assets and a curvy figure. Confidence trumps either in my opinion, though.0 -
There are so many different tastes, so I wouldn't go by what men think. Go by what works for your own body!0
