Bad Weekend and making wine

So I am feeling pretty bad! Yesterday, we had a potluck with all my husbands friends. They are ALWAYS late. We had said to arrive around 6 and figured people would probably arrive around 7. No one showed up until 8 and we did not eat until 10:30 pm!! By that point I had nibbled on some chips (maybe 10 - 15, I was taking them one at a time from the dish on the other side of the room) and a couple of glasses of pop. I know they were not the smartest choices and there is really no excuse for it. I knew it was going to be a bad day, and had exercised so that I could eat more, but I still went over my calories by like 500.
So no one left the house until 3:30 am. We had to be at my in-laws for 9 to make wine, so we were exhausted. I tried to eat well, but I did eat half of a dessert (I shared a piece of pie with my husband). I do not usually count exercise calories from "everyday" things like cleaning the house or shopping for groceries or anything. But making wine right from the grapes is a pretty labor intensive job. There is lots of lifting and scraping and such to get all the juice out of the grapes. I can't find a good link to show you, all that I can say is that we make wine using literally the same equipment my husbands grandfather built when he came to Canada, which was modeled after the one his father made in Italy. We do not stomp the grapes, but everything is literally done by hand.
While I would not normally even think about the calories in making wine, I went over my calorie count by 300 today. I have my activity level set at sedentary, which is the right spot for it most of the time. We worked from 10 - 12 pretty hard and then less hard from 1 - 3. I don't want to add in calories from this, simply to find out if I really messed up. I was planning on staying close to my goals today and making yesterday my "cheat" day, but I went over again today. Is there any way a person could burn 300 calories making wine?

I dont know the answer to your question, but I was wanting to tell you to dont beat yourself up about it Tommorow is a new day...just make it right tommorow! I've had a bad dieting weekend too, and while I feel bad about it, I'm not going to let it slow me down. I'm going full force at it starting in the morning. Good luck!!0

I would say you burned more calories than you normally would doing nothing and to not worry about it too much. A couple of off days won't hurt you in the long run. Just get back up on that horse and stick to your plan this week.0

I went waaaay over my calories on Fri and Sat so Sun and today I am just making sure that I do not go over. I plan on working extra hard at the gym today too since I have not been there since Thursday. In fact, I plan on working extra hard all week at the gym! Everyone has a bad day every once in a while. As long as you don't make it a habit, you will still lose weight!0

That is my plan to! I am hitting the gym after work plus my breakfast & lunch calories are really low for today. I am making home made chicken soup with real broth (I skimmed the fat off when I made it so it is lower in fat), whole wheat pasta, quinoa and lots of veggies so it should be a good calorie day!0
