How to stay healthy in college?

I am going to be attending university in the fall. Since it is my first year, I will be staying in dorms which means I have to be on the meal plan and eat the majority of my meals in a cafeteria. I do get a mini fridge to store a few items.

Anyone have any advice on how to eat as healthy as possible? How to resist the temptations that will be constantly surrounding me when I take on such a busy lifestyle?

The university I am attending has an excellent sports center and gym which helps.

Definitely use the gym. I suggest a good compound weight lifting program like Strong Lifts 5x5 or Starting Strength. Don't worry about "bad" food and "good" food so much but just don't over eat and make sure you get lots of fruits and veggies. Limit drinking, maybe to once a week or something.

I agree with using the gym as much as possible. Also, walk everywhere. I managed to keep my weight fairly steady even while eating Subway spicy italian foot-longs because I walked about 2 hours a day to and from classes.

But seriously, just track your food and don't go over. Easy peasy.
