Running with Asthma

I've been running approximately 3 times a week since March. I recently went on meds for asthma which is only exercise related. There has been no change in how I feel when I run unfortunately. Does anyone have suggestions on how to run comfortably with asthma?

I also have exercise induced asthma. Running in humidity is much harder but just make sure you use your inhaler before you run or exercise. I ran many races and was fine. If you are just starting just try to slow your pace a bit, and concentrate on your breathing. Good luck.
  • I take mine 30mins before exercising and so far it has helped. There are some days less comfortable than others (especially when a cold is coming on), but definitely take it prior to running so it has time to open up the airways.
  • Thank you! Slowing my pace has helped tremoudously!

I have the same issue, I progress slower but I am getting fewer attacks now after about 9 months of running, it seems my lungs are getting in better shape. :) I have to keep a close eye on my allergy symptoms also, don't know if this applies to you or not.

I have exercise induced asthma as well. I have also been prescribed an inhaler. I have not seen any difference. I have been running now since April 2013 and I still can't run the entire 5K, I have to walk/run it. Very frustrating.
