Snapped at for being healthy??!!

Hi y'all
Sorry, need to vent...
So this morning a colleague treated us (we call it here in Holland) tompouce (millefeuille). That delicious pastry is only like 500 cals (!!), but I like it. At the same time I need to work for it. So instead of sitting behind my desk at my lunch break, I went to cycle for 30 minutes. Good healthy choice right??
So one colleague started to joke: 'Don't cycle to hard or otherwise you're going to sweat'. So we laughed about that. Then another colleague totally snapped at me... Why?? Because I'm going to cycle! ´Are you going to cylce for half an hour?' I said: 'Yep!'
She said: 'Oh my god, she has lost it.. she's TOTALLY overdoing it!'
I thought let me be the bigger person and don't respond to that and I said to all of my colleagues: 'Bon apetit!' And she yelled from upstairs: 'Yeah you to! Oh wait.. no.. you DON'T eat. !@#$% Dude, what the fudge?!
Fortunately another colleague said: What? Grace is eating ALL day

It happens at most work places, for various reasons. Keep your chin up and stick to your goals. You are doing splendidly.0

She's probably just jealous because she:
a) sees you're being healthy and losing weight, while she isn't
b) doesn't have the self control that you do
My boyfriend has said the same things to me in the past, calling me a "calorie nazi" and other various things. He once gave me a hard time for doing 5 minutes of jumping jacks because I wanted to have 2 servings of frozen yogurt (200 calories) but only had 192 calories left for the day. I take it as a compliment that I have become known for EARNING what I eat, not just mindlessly shoving pasteries into my mouth.

Rise above, recognise it for what it is, and keep doing the amazing work your are doing. Well done for learning to enjoy both your treat AND your workout! Sounds like a success story to me x0

I dont understand why people get so bothered by other people talking smack about how healthy they are? I would of laughed and been like yup, I am cycling, and sweating while you are stuffing your mouth with a 1000 cal lunch, who do you think is going to be looking better in a month??? Boom! Now sit down, and shut up! Your co-worker not you ....0

Hahahaha, you're totally right. And actually that co-worker is kind of fat.. so I can say enough ugly things to her. But unfortanetly I'm not that kind of person, I don't like to hurt someone else's feeling..0 -

Hahahaha, you are totally me.. or I am totally you!! I feel ya! Exact same thing here.. I'll do an extra set of jumping jacks in order to eat something I want to eat LOL

Yup.. that happens girlie! No-one likes to be reminded of their bad eating habits... And people like to believe that eating a tompouce doesn't matter.. But it's a bloody 500 calories and everytime you give into those things it ends up on your hips if you just sit around and do nothing..

Sitting behind a desk for 8 hours is overdoing it. I guess I was lucky that the people I work with already had a routine where everyone goes for a walk break 3 times in the day. Quick one in the morning, long one at lunch, and another quick one in the afternoon. Helps a lot with recharging productivity and also helps your eyes adjust away from the computer screen.0

in japan the phrase that is similar translates to 'the nail that sticks out the most gets hammered in the hardest'...same kinda deal. if you're not doing the same as everyone else, and that makes them look bad, they try and bring you down....0 -
if she thinks cycling for half an hour is overdoing it, then what does she think of the London to Brighton cycle race? My dad did that when he was in his 50s (can't remember the distance from London to Brighton you can probably look it up)
what about tour de france???
what about crazy people who cycle across Europe or stuff like that....??
it really sounds like she feels bad about her own unhealthy lifestyle, so seeing you doing stuff makes her feel bad about herself, so she's taking it out on you.
Also, I thought practically everyone cycle everywhere in Holland? So how can she get the idea that half an hour's cycling is "totally overdoing it"....
My advice would be next time to smile and invite her to cycle with you and tell her how much fun it is. (don't even mention health, just fun)0
