I am in Illinois now, but I lived in the Mansfield area for a LONG time! My mother still lives there, although she doesn't need this site. Good luck!

Grew up not far from Ashland and went to a school called Black River. My buddy and his dad played prisoners in "The Shawshank Redemption" that was filmed at the Mansfield prison.

Before we switched conferences, we used to play Crestview in all sports. I went to college with Matt Underwood from Ashland HS who now does the Tribe games for Sports Time Ohio. Very familiar with Crestview, Mapleton, Plymouth, etc.

My junior year we beat Plymouth at their field. We had a huge lead and our defense almost blew it, Plymouth scored 3 touchdowns in a very short timespan and was driving for the game winner. Plymouth's QB threw an interception to end the game on the last play. A riot ensued on the field as Plymouth's fans attacked our fans & players. We had to get a police escort back to Black River as your fans pelted our bus with rocks. The next year we thought there was going to be trouble but it was a fairly clean game. We won either 62-0 or 71-0.

    What year?

Shutouts sound familiar! I think we won like 2 games my entire 4 years of school, lol. We're more of a basketball school these days, haha.

I'm much older than you, young lady. I graduated in 1986 which meant the year we blew out Plymouth was 1985. We went 10-0 that year and got beat in the second round of the playoffs (first playoff appearance for our school). Don't feel bad though because I think we shut out 9 of our 12 opponents and won by an average margin of 45-2. Black River was a football school for about 15 years straight after that but has gone downhill recently. I blame it on video games.

Lol, I know you're much older than me. But I bet I was at that game! My mom has been taking me to games since I was a baby. I would have been 8-10 months old!

    Haha! You two are hilarious!

    I'm a 2006 graduate from Crestview :)

And as for Plymouth? Haha that place used to freak me out! I filmed football games all of my Sophomore and Junior years for the coaches and players. I had to climb the coach tower at Plymouth... it swayed back and forth in the wind! Scary stuff! Didn't help that it was freezing cold outside! Haha!

Monroeville's coaches tower was treacherous if I recall. i thought our coaches were gonna fall out of that thing.
