Healthy Sausage Stovies Recipe?
Hi,
From a young age.. I've loved Stovies and whenever I visited Scotland to see my father's side of the family. I'd always ask for some! But I don't know the recipe and don't talk to family any more. I know its got sausages and potato in it. Thats all I can remember.
Whoever helps me out here, I'll love you forever... :blushing:

Basic but flexible ingredients for stovies
3 lbs tatties (potatoes)
1 large onion or 2 small
1 lb steak mince or lamb
or diced pieces of meat
or cheese or vegetables
2 ozs beef dripping or lard
or butter or olive oil
1/2 pint of water
Meat stock cube or veg
Salt to taste, and Pepper
You don't have to be exact with the quantities

Made some with a Scottish friend in Feb. It's basically mince and mash with veg (we used peas and carrots).0

These don't sound like the one's I had lol. My aunties one's like a watery one? With sausages, tatties and onion I think?0

Hmm, the way my friend did it was fry onions and mince together then add vegetables (carrots and peas) and season with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, make mashed potatoes in a separate pan then serve the mash and the meat stuff together. Nothing watery. She also said you could use pieces of meat instead of mince (e.g. left over roast beef from the Sunday dinner). It's basically a meal for using up leftover veg, potatoes etc.0
