lose a pound gain a pound whats wrong with me

I had a hard time this morning making it to the gym. Just because not sure im really losing weight anymore and getting up at 5 am is hard with only 5 hours of sleep. Anyway I weight for one day only july 28 143 pounds since then I been 145 or 144.3. If I really lost the weight shoudnt it stay off? Does anyone else that weights themseleves everyday have this problem or am I the lucky one? Just wondering if maybe its because im eating back my calories but I'm hungry so thats why I do it

Weight fluxuates, a lot. You shouldn't weigh yourself everyday.

My weight can fluxuate 5lbs from a heavy lifting day on Wed to the end of a cardio recovery session on Friday morning.

Your weight will wobbled all over the place day to day because of any number of factors (water retention, food in your gut to name just 2) I have seen my weight jump 4 to 5 pounds over 2 days before.

    This is normal

As long as the general trend over time is down you have ABSOLUTELY nothing to worry about 25lb in a couple of months is fantastic work... do not get disheartened the 5ams will be worth it in the long run.

Eat your exercise calories back otherwise you are going to be starving yourself.

That doesn't mean that weight won't flux though. I'm just showing that my weight can flux 5lbs day to day.

Also, looking at your diary, you're really close to your goal weight. Weight loss is going to slow down now. What is your goal set at (how many lbs per week)? Have you adjusted your calorie goals lately?

    A couple things.

1 - Weighing yourself every day IMO is counterproductive. Unless of course you are one of the individuals who doesn't really care which way the number goes. Doesn't sound like you are that person.

2 - In a week I can go from weighing 170 to 178. Depending on how much salt, the kind of carbs, the amount of effort put forth during exercise or just plain over eating I have done for the week. I weigh myself every 2 weeks and I pay more attention to inches lost and how my clothes are fitting to be honest. What I weigh is just a curiosity thing for me now. I'm still buying smaller clothes and my body composition appears to be changing even though my weight is staying in the same range.

3 - I personally did not have good luck with 1200 and eating back exercise calories. I found my BMR and I eat that plus my exercise calories. I am eating a minimum of 1480 everyday and if I don't exercise I don't feel hungry. 280 calories difference doesn't sound like much but in reality it can be another meal for the day. At the very least it is a larger snack!

I really dont know what my goal weight is anymore I just know now I want to look good in a bikini so not sure what weight that will be and i think it might be a lot less then what I picked when I joined mfp.

So what you're saying is once you reach goal weight, you won't have to get up to exercise anymore? I think that might defeat the purpose of all the hard work you've already put in. Put the scale away. I was up 5 lbs yesterday and today it's gone. I'd had a few days where my food choices put my sodium level way, way over. There are any number of reasons why weight goes up and down. It's hard, because we're all so programmed to worry about that number on the scale, but stop! In order for you to keep off what you've lost, you have to know that the exercise still has to happen, the eating right still has to happen - for your health, not for the number on the scale.

You've done well so far, keep up the good work and the weight will come off.

Maybe stop weighing yourself every day if it bothers you. Instead only weigh once a week, once every 2 weeks or even once per month. I'm a daily weigher but it's just more out of curiousity than anything. I've been sick for the last weeks so no exercise and not great eating. Add on a couple high sodium days and a bit of digestive backup and I was up 6 pounds this morning! I just laugh when I see that kind of increase because I know it's only temporary.

Definitely reassess your calorie goals. And if you're more into looking great in a bikini than what weight you are, you definitely want to look into body recomposition which will include a strength training program.

No I was getting disappointment because when I lose weight it doesnt seem to be staying off now. I have to do some form exercise 7 days a week or I can't eat enough on 1200 calories only without exercise. So i go to the gym 6 days a week doing cardo and on the 7 day I do a yoga dvd and abs dvd to try to do something easier but still burn calories so I can get over 1200 calories for me it isnt
