Would you consider my job "active"?

Or am I just being lazy??

I bartend. And wait tables. My shifts are anywhere between 8 - 11 hours and I am on my feet the whole time. It's been slower lately so I am mostly leisurely moving about, but there are days when I start to sweat.

I'm just asking, because I've been reading people's success stories and workout routines in general, and I'm worried that I am not getting enough gym time.

As of now, I am aiming for strength training 3x a week and atleast one day of just pure cardio. I don't know if this will be enough to see results. I guess I should just wait it out, but I am impatient.

Any other restaurant workers/nurses/people on their feet at night out there? How often do you workout? Did you see success?

I worked in restaurants in my late teens and early twenties. If your restaurant is anything like the ones I worked in then yes, that would qualify as an active job. My current job (computer programmer) is a lazy job lol. If you are curious you can pick up a pedometer for cheap and see how many steps you take. I bet you walk at least a few miles each day if not closer to five or six.

if you are walking, standing most of the day, you are in an active (semi-active) job. Definitely fit strength training in your schedule for better results.

Yes, that's definitely active. If your strength routine is solid and progressive (meaning you lift heavy weights with low reps and keep adding weight) you'll see results w/ 3x a week. 1 day of cardio on top of your job is plenty. It's all about getting the right amount of calories and doing the strength training.
