Who has preordered/is getting A Realm Reborn? We just pre-ordered the PS3 version today, but will most likely buy the PC version as well so my husband and I can play together. :3

Anyone else looking forward to it??

  • I've only played FFI and FFII. I have another 11 to conquer before I can get to FF14.

It's an MMO. No prior experience with FF necessary. ;)

I'm thinking about it, but my husband thinks it's a bad idea, as I'm the type to get addicted to playing easily. Final Fantasy is my favorite series, #7 being my favorite game of all time. The last one I've played, though, was #10, and I never finished it. You will have to let me know how you like it!

Since i purchased the collectors edition of the original ffxiv version 1.0 the lame one. I get a free download of FFXIV ARB v 2.0. so ill be playing for pc. Pc and ps3 will be a cross platform being able to play together. 8/27/13 which is in 2.5 months can't wait for v 2.0 I don't know which server i'll start on though.

I used to play ffxi a lot for like 2 years i think. loved it still think it was way better than wow.

Hopefull square learned some valuable lessons from FFXI. Not picking your servers at launch was a horrible idea.

But yes, I've preordered and just waiting for the next phase of beta and the official launch.

Sorry, not a big fan of MMOs and haven't enjoyed a FF since 10. Enix just really ruined it for me. Viva La Final Fantasy VII! I can, however, be excited for your excited so :drinker:

I was really mad that they programmed out the little spot you could park the ship in the islands where you present the tail to the dragons in FF1 on GBA. Also, the ability to save every step deal was utter crap.

A lot of people agree with you, so I can't be mad. I'll just politely disagree.

I wish I had time for another MMO. I'm so wrapped up in DDO that I just could not play another game like that. I've been a FF fan since I played FF3 on NES! Though I have missed the last couple.

My husband tried the beta out a bit... I'm definitely interested but MMOs tend to be a time suck for me! We played lots of Dungeons & Dragons Online for a while then, as with all MMOs, eventually got bored with the grind.

I'm working on FF9 right now (Vivi is adorable! Zedane's head is huge! Steiner's kind of pathetic!) after having to completely bail on 8. Hated the mechanics.

Woot! Another DDO-er! We haven't played in a while but ODed when my husband started working for Turbine.
  • Honestly never played the PC or PS3 versions I play Aion right now with my hubby and oldest son. I loved FF7,8,X, and X-2 these were actually the first games I ever played through and finished :) I probably will lok into it but my not start right away because my life is getting pretty busy at the moment and my hubby says I get sucked in to the story lines too easy lol but Have fun and keep us updated to how it is.

Just got an email saying I got into the PS3 beta as a plus member. I'll try it out.

However, me and my little bro were feeling nostalgic this weekend. We found a site that had a free download and private server for FFXI so we downloaded it and were excited. I could only make it like an hour before having enough. Absolutely terrible mechanics. Like mind blowingly bad. I can't believe i ever played that game as long as I did. Maybe it was better on ps2 idk.

Long story short, FFXIV better not be like that or I'm out.

This is coming from someone that has played the crap out of every ff game from 6-13 (passed on 14 the first go round)

Dont do it to yourself I played FF11 for years and its so damn addicting. You know its bad when they got a disclaimer just b4 you hit play saying dont neglect your life, job or family because of this game.

I'm still lovin my DDO. The Forgotten Relms expansion is pretty damn sweet (even though the raid to super annoying). I've got my monk capped and working on my Barbarian now.

On the fence about it. I played FFXI and it was bad for my health and weight. I played from Spring of 2002 to Fall of 2009. I enjoyed it and love the online friendships I made but too much sitting on my butt and crappy diet was not good for me. I quit cold turkey and haven't played any other MMO besides SWoTR for a few months. My problem is I get too invested. I like playing with others, going on quests, etc etc. I get bored solo fast. All this takes time and what little free time I have, I mostly spend at the gym. Many of my old linkshell mates from FFXI are starting up on a new server. I may join them, I haven't decided yet. I will be definitely casual. 4-6 hrs a week at most.

I played a bit of the beta before the initial release a couple years ago. It had a lot of promise and was definitely one of the prettiest games I had seen, but it needed a lot of work. In fact, my friend and I backed out of the pre-order about a month before it went live. The mouse behavior was probably the biggest hassle (the acceleration absolutely sucked.) Hoping they get it all ironed out. I haven't heard if they're still going with a subscription model (they were a couple years ago), but I've already got my hands full, MMO-wise. Between EQ2 and Neverwinter, they keep me busy, and I'm champing at the bit for Elder Scrolls Online.

Long-time FF fan, VII still my favorite. I keep hearing they may do a HR re-boot, which would be awesome. Looking real hard at the new FFXV coming out on the next-gen consoles.
  • My husband and I met playing FFXI! So we are so nostalgic about playing FFXIV. We play the beta, and we're getting it for PC and PS. The first release was jaw-droppingly awful. I was pretty upset about it. But they turned things around and FFXIV looks like it'll be a great game with lots of fun things to do!

It's still your "standard" mmo, but if nothing else, it'll give us something to do for a few years :D

Still debating. Historically speaking I tend to obsess over random things in those games and not actually play them. I just run around for hours and try and commit cacti genocide. Then remember there is a plot for 30 minutes and then kill more cheeky cacti.

I just got the game today, or so Fedex says it's sitting at my front door. Super excited. It looks like awesome. Been watching a few videos of it. Too bad I already paid for shipping for the physical copy... They just announced that digital downloads are open!! FML!
