Tuna! What do YOU like??

I have been experimenting with canned tuna lately-it is high in protein, low in bad stuff, has omega 3's, and the best part-IT IS CHEAP AND FAST. I eat healthier when I have more time, usually when I am on the go I tend to mess up and grab crappy choices. So CANNED TUNA is becoming my best friend!

I have already posted about different recipes that I have been doing, but what are some of the ways YOU eat canned tuna?

What I do:
1 can (water, drained)
Spicy Brown mustard
sliced tomatoes
capers
...easy and tasty "ITALIAN"

1 can (water, drained)
+ salsa. That is it! "TEX MEX"

1 packet of sweet and spicy tuna
1 bag of steamed veggies (the "asian medley" with baby corn, water chestnuts and broccoli)
A little sriracha
Sometimes I add Kraft Light Toasted Sesame dressing if I just use a regular can of tuna, not the flavored kind
and WA LA, I have "ASIAN" style tuna

1 can (water drained)
Plain Greek yogurt (instead of mayo)
diced pickles
diced onion
diced celery
"TUNA SALAD"

And today I found a weird combo that I actually ended up LOVING, it may sound gross (sorry) but I thought it was fantastic!
1 can (water drained)
1 TSP Honey Mustard
1 TBSP Hot diced cherry pepper relish
.....it was AMAZING.

Just thought i'd share this and if you have any ideas let me know!

I'm simple, either a can of tuna mixed with hummus or guacamole

Hummus? Hmm, like what kind, regular or a flavored kind? I love hummus but never thought about those two together.

I've done tuna plus a wedge of laughing cow cheese (i use the garlic one) and add cut up sweet baby pickles (sweet with splenda-could do just relish as well). The laughing cow is a great binder. The "light" tuna pouches were $1 each at Target yesterday so I stocked up.

I mix a can or two with a tbs or 2 of hummus, a chopped boiled egg, and maybe a bit of mustard. Then, I portion it into 3 servings to go on my mixed salad greens for lunch during the week.

As for the kind of hummus, it can be any flavor you like. Change it up!

That sounds really good! And the pouches are my best friend....I work in a restaurant and always get hungry there (even when I am NOT hungry) but those pouches are so easy to just pour into a bowl and add whatever you want! Thanks for the suggestion!

I normally get tomato and basil tuna, if it's on special. It then replaces my after run protein shake. Yum!

    1.5 loose leaf lettuce
    cherry tomatoes/halved
    celery, diced
    apple, diced
    tuna
    light mayo/dijon mustard/olive oil

    mmmmmm.
  • My current favorite:
    1 can tuna
    1/2 avocado diced
    1/4 cup feta cheese
Mix well. You can mash the avocado a little bit so it all sticks together. Great in wraps, on lettuce as a salad, with crackers, or with a spoon. Yum.

1 can tuna (I use the Chicken of the Sea "No Drain" cans; really suggest trying them out if you haven't)
    1 greek yogurt (Nostimo)
    Couple of spoons of salsa
    Add red curry to taste.

The red curry really gives it a kick. I usually eat it with some greens.

Perhaps this is a result of living in the upper Midwest, but pound for pound tuna here is more expensive than ground beef. I don't have it often. Here's a couple of the things I shamelessly gorge myself on during late night study sessions:

    Cheese and tuna leaves:
    -cottage cheese
    -canned tuna
    -cheap raw greens
Load tuna and cottage cheese on a broad leaf, roll into shapes easy to hold and eat, and chow.

    Seared eggplant with tuna:
    -canned tuna
    -soy sauce
    -sugar
    -salad dressing
    -eggplant
Ideal proportions of the first four ingredients will vary from person to person. Mix them into a paste-like mixture. Slice and cook eggplant on skillet (a little heat goes a long way!), then top with paste.

I often make up a spicy quinoa mix (pre made, but easy enough to do yourself), add in some finely diced veg-whatever is about, mix in some plain tuna and use it as a stuffing for veg. Zucchini, bell peppers, mushrooms that sort of thing. Delicious.

I love tuna and would eat it everyday if I could. But I am pretty simple with it and always eat it the same way. Tuna mixed with a couple squeezes of light miracle whip and then mix in some pickle relish. And that is it, so good and not complicated. Sometimes I would add a crumbled hard boiled egg in there.

Tuna Creamy Sauce for Pasta :

    1 can of tuna
½ cup of plain greek yogurt
Dijon (to taste...I use 1-2 tablespoons)

Mix, chill, serve it over a cup of pasta (add veggies as a side dish if you like)
    Easy, breezy stuff

My tuna is pretty basic: tuna, mayo, salt & pepper, pickles, tomatos & cheese... but my favorite part is adding avocado - YUM :) (and I either skip or use much less of the mayo & cheese then)

I like to mix it with the plain 0% Fage Greek Yogurt. It gives it the creaminess like mayo, but is a bit healthier. I also add one boiled egg white, a bit of raw onion, celery, tsp mustard, and a dash of sriracha.

My go-to tuna recipe is similar to yours with the capers. I usually do: 1 can tuna, 2 tbsp homemade mayo, 1 tbsp spicy brown mustard and some capers. I'm kind of picky about my tuna, there is only one brand that I've found that I like which is at Costco, the Wild Planet brand. All the others I've tried are watery to me, even when drained ... I prefer the flaky drier stuff. Any suggestions of a typical grocery store brand that might be similar for times I can't get to Costco?

I always add honey mustard (instead of mayo) and sweet relish, then either make a sandwich or eat it on crackers. Yum!
